Michelle Obama long ago revealed The Chip On Her Shoulder.
Now there is video of her View of America, from a January 2008 speech at USC
"We don’t like being pushed outside of our comfort zones. You know it right here on this campus. You know people sitting at different tables- you all living in different dorms. I was there. You’re not talking to each other, taking advantage that you’re in this diverse community. Because sometimes it’s easier to hold on to your own stereotypes and misconceptions. It makes you feel justified in your own ignorance. That’s America. So the challenge for us is are we ready for change?"
Shouldn't she be directing some of her own divisive verbiage towards Reverend Jeremiah Wright, the Obama's Pastor of he last 20 or so years?
I hate to tell Mrs. Obama, but America moved beyond the hateful rhetoric she and the Reverend Wright preaches, for the most part, years ago. We do not wish a "CHANGE" back to that.
It must totally escape her that if we in America were the racist whites she speaks of, her husband would not be a front-runner for the Presidency of the United States, nor would she be earning $350,000 a year and living in a $1,650,000 mansion.

Interesting that you see something so different than what I see in that speech.
Maybe it is based on a pre conceived idea of what you expect, or want to believe (or get others to believe).
I don't think that the speech makes her look the least bit racist.
She is only being honest about what she sees.
Racism exists, in ALL races.
Denying it, is not the way to fix it.
Being open about its existence is a first step.
Eileen, in many ways you remind me of my oldest daughter. She too can't see the bad of some people until it is almost too late.
I agree that there is still racism, but not on the scale she and others try to make it out to be. Individuals are racists from all sides, but it is not America as a whole.
This speech, while alone may not be that racist, portrays another example of her spewing a message that is not true. College students do congregate with those like themselves, it is only normal. We do it after school too. It is not racist that you hang out with people just like you.
She may honestly feel that way, but that doesn't make it true.
Going back to her college thesis, “Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community, she wrote, “Princeton made me far more aware of my ‘blackness’ than ever before.” She continued, “I have found that at Princeton, no matter how liberal and open-minded some of my White professors and classmates try to be toward me, I sometimes feel like a visitor on campus, as if I really don't belong.”
Who hasn't felt that way? Did it ever occur to her that part of the reason might be her own arrogance and feelings of being better than others, not because she is Black?
She also said, “Regardless of the circumstances under which I interact with Whites at Princeton, it often seems as if, to them, I will always be Black first and a student second.”
Could that be the feelings she is projecting onto others and they grew tired of her? She was in college in the early 80's. Colleges were bending over backwards to accomodate Blacks, but people don't care for stuck up arrogant people, do they? Yet, she claimed, "Predominately white universities like Princeton are socially and academically designed to cater to the needs of the white students comprising the bulk of their enrollments."
She sent out some 400 self made questionaires to Black alumni from Princeton and received only 90 replies. She questioned their "assimilation" into "white society," hoping they would retain what she labels their "blackness." her conclusion, "I hoped that these findings would help me conclude that despite the high degree of identification with whites as a result of the educational and occupational path that black Princeton alumni follow, the alumni would still maintain a certain level of identification with the black community. However, these findings do not support this possibility."
Is there something wrong with Blacks getting a good education and becoming successful? Do they have to maintain her definition of "Blackness" to be considered good and decent people?
On the campaign trail, when Barack wasn't out in fornt, she said, "I'm completely confident black America will wake up and get it. There's always that doubt in the back of the minds of people of color, people who've been oppressed and haven't been given real opportunities. You believe that somehow, someone is better than you. You know, deep down inside, you doubt whether you can do it because that's all you've been told is, ‘No. Wait.'"
That attitude she claims Blacks have didn't stop her, did it? Do you know anyone telling Blacks they are lesser today? Don't we have Affirmative Action, which is the opposite of what she claims?
And imagine, if you will, if I gave a speech against Barack Obama and said, "I'm completely confident White America will wake up."
That wouldn't be received too well, now would it?
Given her leaning towards her "Blackness," what did she mean with, "For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change. I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction...”
Just WHAT direction does she mean?
Racism is real and always will be, but it can be minimized. You cannot legislate people's thoughts and feelings, wrong as they may be.
You say denying it won't fix it and that's true. But, Michelle Obama needs to look deeply inward at herself and see the racism she spews in line with the rhetoric of her former Pastor, Jeremiah Wright.
When people stop looking for the difference between us all, maybe then it will improve. But, denying the Black racism will only deepen the divide.
Ask yourself, why do they trash Blacks like Condoleeza Rice?

My crazy old Uncle Ernie was in an artillery unit in WWII. He used to lug and load heavy shells, then stand way too close to the firing. He was stone deaf in one ear, and not much better of hearing in the other.
He was also a very jumpy guy. Just could never stand still.

Truthfully, Eileen, I haven't made a dime off of AdSense yet.

Although the truth is sometimes kind of boring, it is worth having.
I just hope there really is not a kid in there.
She looks pretty male, and if she started taking male hormones again, while pregnant, I think they should prosecute for child abuse.

I made over $3 today, 21 actual clicks and 4574 impressions.
But usually I make just over $1 a day. But I keep my 2 cents snapshot. I think it is kind of funny.
