Vote Jobs

Less than 4 days are left to mark and turn in your ballots. I like to carry mine down to the drop box and others will drop them in the mail. If by mail, be sure to have them at the Post Office early enough to make sure they are postmarked before the Tuesday 8 PM deadline.

Tim Likeness, our elections manager says, “The biggest issue we tend to have is that we have so many that get postmarked the day after” going on to add that about 600 ballots were received with a postmark too late to be counted in the recent primary election.

We have a lot of candidates running in this mid-term election and several initiatives to sort out, all of which are just as important as getting our ballots in on time. We have heard all of the Democrat vs. Republican rhetoric and barbs thrown back and forth and now must decide who and what we want.

Hard core Democrats, like their Republican counterparts will undoubtedly vote party line as usual and as usual, the actual selection will be left in the hands of Independents, the center of our population that adheres to neither party down the line.

Our country is in deep trouble with a lingering recession and no viable solutions on the table just yet. Unemployment remains higher than it has been in several decades with benefits running out and so few actual jobs being offered.

That’s why for me, I’m looking to vote for where the jobs will be created.

I don’t buy the rhetoric from any candidate that they will work to create jobs. I don’t really want government creating jobs because all too often, they just expand government or transfer welfare roles, giving us more of bloated bureaucracy.

Hollow promises of “getting the government out of the way” doesn’t set well with me either, unless accompanied with sound ideas on how and where.

For some time now I have been bringing up how job creation is being blocked or impeded by government regulations and taxes being imposed upon the Energy Producers in America, while we continue to import unsustainable amounts of foreign energy resources, while we leave our own languishing in the ground.

See Missing The Boat On Job Creation and What About Jobs Obama? Unblock The Jobs!

Here we are a year later and not much has changed, other than we have the pending elections and an opportunity to select people who will see that there are hundreds of thousands of jobs just waiting to be filled in the Energy Industry, not to mention so many more in supportive industry.

Opportunistic politicians have used the recent Horizon Deepwater tragedy in the Gulf of Mexico to push for more restrictive legislation and impose further taxes on the industry that stands to begin pulling us out of this mess. From a post on the Energy Tomorrow blogsite, provided by the American Petroleum Institute we read
* A September, Rasmussen poll found that 63 percent of voters continue to support both offshore and deepwater drilling.
* A Harris Interactive survey from that same month showed that more than 60 percent opposed increasing oil and natural gas industry taxes.

Before you rush in here to cry I advocate removing all regulation and taxation, be assured that is not the case. What I do advocate is reasonable taxes and regulation with a balance of job creation for economic recovery in mind.

That is one of the problems we currently face that has thrown us so far off center and deep into this recession, we are out of balance between government control and the people.

One such out of balance position is the effort to take away from our food supply to provide energy while we have billions of barrels of untapped resources just sitting in the ground, untapped and not being used.

Washington State retiring congressman Brian Baird, in a recent Wall Street Journal interview said, “With cap and trade we wound up with a bill that didn't accomplish much, was enormously complicated and expensive.”

Yet, he is one of the politicians that joins in blocking recovering and using more of our own resources and supporting legislation such as the “was enormously complicated and expensive” cap & trade bill “that didn't accomplish much.”

While he does advocate giving tax breaks to the so-called “renewable green energy” plans, they remain more expensive, less reliable and produce much less energy for the cost as we gain from petroleum resources.

Oh, and they also require massive influx of our tax dollars to sustain them as well.

In the meantime, the very same politicians who vote to make you and I dependent upon those sources, block efforts to construct them where they reside, such as the Calico solar farm in California’s Mojave Desert and their efforts blocking wind farms.

This election is critical for our nation. As important as it is to get your ballots filled out and turned in before the deadline, researching where the candidates actually stand on issues as important as our energy policy is crucial.

We either keep going as we are, hoping to someday come out of this mess.

Or, we begin working our way out of it.

Choose wisely, my friends. The future depends on it.

I’m voting for jobs.

Democrats! Will They Ever Learn?

Once again, the nation has made the folly of giving Democrats full control of the government and once again, they are poised to lose an election of historical proportions after a short time holding the reins of power.

As times before, many promises were made that fell hollow as they plunged the nation deeper into despair. Catchy slogans to win elections have shown themselves to be meaningless. FDR’s “New Deal,” LBJ’s “Great Society,” Carters “A Leader, For a Change,” Clinton’s “Putting People First” and now Obama’s “Change We Can Believe In” and “Yes We Can!” are giving way to “Change it back” and “No, you won’t” as poll after poll is showing that Tuesdays mid-term elections appear to be poised as blow-outs, placing the GOP back in congressional control.

Hardcore Liberal/Progressives are having a difficult time accepting it, but the handwriting is on the wall as again, another generation of American citizens are seeing that promises made in campaigns are not promises kept in office.

Oh, voters fell for the race card, the gender card, the class card, every trick in the book pulled during the Bush years to thrust the nation back in Democrat hands and as every time before, America’s hands were pulled back singed.

A recent Wall Street Journal, There They Went Again shows us how this pattern repeats itself and how Democrats just will not learn that America isn’t the left-leaning Mecca they have envisioned for the better part of a century.

Oh, there are a handful of people who think that the Socialism promised by Democrats is the best way, but their numbers are not as large as they think. The American citizen may fall for the p0romises of Socialism that do not say they are Socialism, but most Americans enjoy freedom and liberty just too much.

Even Europe, who has long tried to make Socialism work, is waking up to how it just doesn’t work and they are gradually moving right to grow their economies.

Not so America’s modern Democrats who think campaigning on a message of “blame it all on Bush” and promises of more free handouts will retain their power.

Hate to tell them, but even after 8, nearly 10 years of demonizing George W. Bush and ridiculing his every move, only “43 percent in a recent poll say Barack Obama has been a better president than George W. Bush, while 48 percent in the same poll say Bush was a better president than Obama has been.”

This same poll also tells us that a clear 56% want to fire Obama in 2012.

This after less than 2 years as president and just short of 4 with Democrats holding congressional control.

Bailouts, government takeover of business, forcing expensive healthcare reform down our throats, driving small businesses under, destroying millions of jobs and all of the empty promises made of just the opposite have woke up and alarmed freedom loving Americans who desire to see prosperity once again, not government dependence.

You Republicans, don’t think you get a pass and will just ride a tidal wave into office, then its business as usual. You weren’t much better when the nation granted you all complete control. But, you are the choice we are stuck with, what with our two party system. But we, the American people are tired of being stuck in the middle of the partisan rankling while elected representatives vie for political power and screw up the country at our expense, while you all enjoy luxurious lifestyles.

What we really to do is make your jobs part time without the high end salaries, opulent offices and free travel the world over. We don’t need term limits as much as we need people who are dedicated to America and our people, not a career in politics, viewing your selves as “celebrities.”

You that consider yourselves “Blue Dog Democrats,” now is your chance to prove it. Stand up and publicly announce your conservative values.

You RINO’s who think you’re owed an office or a vote because you have a ‘R’ behind your name, be ready to begin looking for employment.

Just remember, power comes from the people to government in this country, not from you down to us.

The American experiment has not yet failed and if permitted will thrive again. It make take many years to recover, but recover we will.

The first step is ousting those liberals who misled an entire nation into entrusting power back to them and ended up wrecking the economy and nation even worse.

By all accounts, much of that we will be seen come Wednesday morning, November 3, 2010.

How Would You Vote?

‘Uncle’ Bud Is Coming Home

Few things are savored by Military families as much as when a loved one off to war finally gets to come home. As in all of our wars, too many don’t come home at all and others are absent from their families and loved ones too long. Far too long for some.

That is the sad saga of SSgt Claude ‘Bud’ Ray who is scheduled to arrive back home and be reunited with his mother, October 27, 2010, 67 years to the day that the B-24 Liberator he and 11 other American crewmembers disappeared over Japanese occupied New Guinea during severe weather on October 27, 1943.

Soldier’s remains found after MIA 67 years

SSgt Ray had flown his required missions and was due to return stateside, having written in his last letter that he was eager to come home to his native Kansas in hopes of enjoying a ‘White Christmas.” He volunteered to fly one more mission in the ill-fated B-24 Liberator as a tail-gunner and never returned.

SSgt Ray, ‘Uncle Bud’ to his now 74 year-old niece Karen Gideon now a resident of Fullerton, California was but 25 years old when his B-24 disappeared. Ms. Gideon was but 6 years old when he enlisted in the Army Air Corps, but claims vivid memories of ‘Uncle Bud.’

Ms. Gideon and her brother Burt Risser are the last known direct relatives of SSgt Ray and will be on hand to receive his remains Monday, October 25.

Fullerton woman buries her uncle – 67 years later

After 67 years missing in action, SSgt Claude Ray will be laid to his final rest near his mother in the Riverside National Cemetery in Southern California.

SSgt Ray sacrificed his life all those years ago when he stood up to fill-in for another who became ill. Many of our Troops then and now have made similar selfless sacrifices and like SSgt Ray, some did not come back.

Names like Casey Sheehan come to mind who sacrificed his life on a voluntary mission to rescue fellow soldiers in Iraq.

Lesser known names also come to mind, known but to a few today. Sgt. Scott Stanton, Sfc. Bob Pilk to mention just two.

Like SSgt. Ray, they lost their lives off in another country fighting for freedom for the South Vietnamese. Unlike Ray, they were brought home immediately for their families to bury and say good bye to.

I can only imagine the pain felt by SSgt. Rays family as they grew older never knowing what came of their brother, son and uncle. Due to some vague reports he was seen in a Japanese POW Camp, hope was held out for a while that he would come home again, alive.

Sadly that wasn’t to happen. But, he is being brought home now and will be buried with full Military Honors.

In May 2011, the family will attend services in Arlington National Cemetery where the Military is constructing a Memorial to the crew where the remains that were not able to be identified will be buried in a shared casket.

SSgt Ray exemplifies the words I once wrote, America’s Veterans, A Better Breed.

Welcome home, older brother. Rest in peace, your job well done.

“Don’t Vote,” More Feigned Democrat Outrage

Ever mindful of Rahm Emanuel’s admonition of “never let a good crisis go to waste,” I see Democrats have launched a campaign of outrage over a short-lived ad from Nevada urging Latino’s “Don’t Vote” due to their votes be taken advantage of.

Mitch Stewart of BarackObama.com, also known as Organizing for America sent out an email I received this morning titled “If you don't fight back, they'll get away with it,” implying the ad, created and ran by one man, Robert de Posada, founder of Latinos for Reform is an official Republican Party operation against Democrat Nevada Senator, Harry Reid.

No one has ever said the Democrats are above outright lies in their campaigns.

Stewart and other Democrats, in their haste to defend pathetic Senate Leader Harry Reid, ignore and don’t make mention that Reid’s opponent, Sharron Angle denounced the ad through her campaign days before Stewart sent out the email warning us “They’ll get away with it,” but according to Democrats, the denouncement did not come out soon enough. Is anything ever soon enough for the party known for dragging their feet on many matters?

Equally ignored is the second ad released by de Posada slamming Republicans for their lack of action on immigration matters as well.

But, since de Posada was once the Republican National Committee's director of Hispanic affairs and worked for the Bush administration, which gives Democrats their usual link to condemn all Republicans over the action of one.

Robert de Posada, in defending the ad citing the second version of the ad above that shows Sen. John McCain, Sen. Jim DeMint and former Rep. Tom Tancredo that wasn’t finished when the decision to pull his ads was made says,
you need to look at the record of the candidates and understand that in a civic engagement situation, you have the options of not necessarily voting. You should not be told you have no option but to support the lesser of two evils,” he said. “We need to start making people accountable for their efforts and at the same time, we cannot reward this irresponsible behavior, and a perfect example is Harry Reid.”
Feigned as it is, the Democrats outrage ignores similar efforts over the years launched by the left that apparently were okay by them, so long as it was Republicans being urged not to vote.

The blogsite Sweetness & Light weeks ago went through a New York Times article seeing that decidedly left-winged newspaper was basically telling voters “Don’t Vote, It’s A Waste Of Time.” Of course, it is primarily for the benefit of Republican voters.

In 2004, an obviously left-winged group, Billionaires for Bush denied any involvement in a campaign of billboards erected in minority areas of Minneapolis, Minnesota with only “Don’t Vote” written in the billboards.

In denial of any involvement in that campaign, they openly boasted of their Block the Vote effort citing,
In the final month of the campaign season, we're launching a sophisticated effort to encourage the rabble to stay at home on election day and ensure that even if they hit the polls, their vote won't be counted. Called "Block the Vote", our nationwide campaign will both counter the insidious "get out the vote" efforts of various progressive organizations and celebrate the Republican-led vote suppression efforts underway in Florida, Michigan, and other battleground states.
The group is still around and still up to their antics, getting caught last year trying to infiltrate a Tea Party event and who now have started their Billionaires for Wealthcare campaign, more antics of a leftist effort to infiltrate the Tea Party event, organized by a professional political organizer who is a $2,700 Obama contributor.

Even now there is the Oregon based website Don’tVote.org, prominently showing links to leftist web pages of the Sierra Club, David Wu for Congress and BarackObama.com. Occasionally a link for the League of Women Voters shows as well.

In 2006, the AARP, a well known and decidedly left-leaning group allegedly advocating for us seniors launched their own Don't Vote Campaign claiming, “Don’t vote . . . until you know where the candidates stand on the issues.”

Is that really all that far from what Robert de Posada says his campaign effort is about?

Every election the left pulls this “GOP denying others their vote” crap! It never fails, even though we saw in 2008 a member of the New Black Panthers standing outside of a polling place in Pennsylvania with a club in hand, clearly intimidating voters who might not vote as they desired.

Did the Democrats actually condemn this act of voter intimidation? No, they in fact blocked all action that should have been taken against them.

As usual, Unions join the charge of Republicans denying people their right to vote claiming this year,
Tea Party-tilting Republicans probably aren't counting on many union votes.
But my guess is they're hoping for the next best thing: a slew of union members will forget that the GOP’s gospel of greed caused the recession, will blame hangover hard times on the Democrats and will show their disdain by not voting.
Most laughable is seeing a union actually complaining about someone else being greedy.

This is nothing new and is right out of the Democrats playbook. While Robert de Posada’s message is framed in a manner I wouldn’t use, obviously it isn’t any different than what we have seen and heard for several years from the socialist left currently holding the country in their stranglehold.

Don’t stay home and not vote, vote them out instead!

Patty Murray Finds Illegal Aliens to do the Campaigning Americans Won’t Do

Illegal immigration is an ongoing problem within the United States with millions of undocumented aliens having snuck across our borders for various reasons. Most come to find a better life here instead of working to better their home country. Some come to carry drugs or other contraband into the country and some come with the intent to cause harm to American Citizens.

Regardless of the reasons, they are in the country illegally and in open violation of our laws. Hence, they used remain in the shadows, knowing if discovered they would be deported back to their home country.

Of late, thanks in large part to Democrat policies of granting them certain “constitutional rights” they are not entitled to, many have come more out in the open, flaunting the fact that they are in the country illegally.

One area they have not been granted rights to just yet is participating in our elections, although two American cities are hoping to change that this year.

Even with that it is shocking to discover that in Seattle, Washington, illegal aliens are enlisted to canvass for the 2010 mid-term elections. Not shocking is that these illegal aliens are advocating the reelection of 3 term Democrat U.S. Senator Patty Murray who apparently sees no problem with such illegal activity as she also seems to not see a problem with our borders and sovereignty being continually violated.

The articles floating across the media and internet mention Maria Gianni, who openly boasts of coming to America on a visa 13 years ago and decided to stay past her visa, a direct violation of our immigration laws. Gianni says, “in order for there to be a change to our broken immigration system, I believe one has to fight.

Gianni, a native of Mexico makes no effort to “fight for change” in her native Mexico, but apparently feels she has a right to openly violate our laws and then consider them hers to fight to change on her behalf. In essence, instead of her complying with our laws, the law must be changed to facilitate her.

The canvassing effort is spearheaded by Seattle based OneAmerica Votes, a group started by 42 year-old Pramila Jayapal, an immigrant herself who was sent to America when she was 17 in 1982 and became a citizen in 2000, 18 years later. Jayapal also seems to be a self-professed “Guardian of Immigrant Rights” becoming alarmed hearing of many alleged “hate crimes against Arabs and South Asians” after the devastating terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Her first thought that day, “This is going to change everything for anyone who looks like me.”

Her group, OneAmerica Votes, an offshoot of her parent group OneAmerica, formerly ‘Hate Free Zone’ “advocates for policies and works to elect candidates that promote democracy and justice in immigrant communities at the local, state and federal levels,” and whose Policy Page screams for some form of amnesty to illegal aliens.

OneAmerica lays claim to “Our civic engagement activities include voter registration, education and mobilization, and acceptable non-partisan grassroots and direct lobbying with local, state and federal officials on key issues that matter to immigrants,” yet they are only advocating electing and supporting Democrats like Patty Murray who see “immigration reform” as preferable to actually enforcing our laws.

Murray voted YES on continuing federal funds for declared “sanctuary cities,” voted YES on comprehensive immigration reform, voted NO on declaring English as the official language of the US, voted NO on building a fence along the Mexican border, voted YES on allowing illegal aliens to participate in Social Security and voted NO to limit welfare for immigrants.

Murray has received a rating of 0% by the USBC, a “non-profit, tax-exempt, citizen's lobby dedicated to ending illegal immigration by securing our nation’s borders and reforming our immigration policies.” A 0% rating indicates an open-border stance.

Once an immigrant becomes a naturalized Citizen of the United States, they have full voting rights just as native born American citizens do. They made the effort, passed the required tests, followed the legal process and I welcome them to America. They are now Americans with full rights.

Legal immigrants, although striving to become full citizens hopefully, have not earned full rights and have only some rights.

Illegal aliens have no real rights as they are criminals who violated our law to get here and violate it by staying here illegally. Sorry if you don’t like that, but it is a fact.

It is said that It's Not Illegal for illegal aliens to be participating in our elections by canvassing and advocating for pro-amnesty Democrats like Patty Murray, but aren’t illegal immigrants already in violation of the law? Isn’t that why they are referred to as “illegal?”

Does openly thumbing your nose at our laws somehow now grant illegal’s favorable preference?

Wasn’t it just days ago that Barack Obama and fellow Democrats began blasting allegations of foreign influence driving support for conservative groups like the U.S. Chamber of Commerce?

Isn’t relying upon illegal aliens to canvass on their behalf accepting foreign influence as well?

I think is commendable that a naturalized citizen like Pramila Jayapal feels the desire to be a “Guardian of Immigrant Rights.”

Wouldn’t it be even more commendable if she and Patty Murray were advocates of “American Citizen Rights” as well?

All the more reason we need to elect Dino Rossi to the Senate and send Patty home.

We American Citizens deserve representation too, don’t we?

Union Worker Fired by Union for Wearing Sweatshirt with ‘BUSH’ Displayed on it

See update at bottom of post.

Like many of us, Duane Hammet works and goes about his business caring for his family. Duane is also a member of the IATSE (The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees) Local 33 in Burbank/Hollywood, California.

Duane also has the distinction now of being fired from his job setting up a stage in preparation for Barack Obama’s visit because he showed up for work wearing a sweatshirt with the name “BUSH” prominently displayed on it, after refusing to turn it inside out.

Curious in this firing is that name on the sweatshirt is not that of the much maligned and hated George W. Bush, but of the United States Navy Aircraft Carrier George H.W. Bush, father of the 43 president and the ship that Duane’s son has been serving on.

Does this mean Union Workers and Democrats are barred from flying in to or out of Houston, Texas if they use George Bush Intercontinental Airport, the main airport for that city?

Can you imagine the riots if someone were fired for wearing an Obama shirt?

Democrats and Unions are responsible for spreading this hatred to the point that a man is fired for showing the name of a US Navy ship. Just like Bolsheviks long before them, anything not fitting their little realm must be destroyed and hated.

We cannot be the “land of the free” with Unions wielding this much power that they manipulate elections and hold someone wages over their head for expressing their free will.

After all, isn’t that why we were said to need unions in the first place, to protect workers? And now, as it long has been, it is unions harassing and firing workers for displaying the name of a US Navy ship named after a former president?

This outright hatred of conservatives, Republicans and Bush is out of hand.

UPDATE: With egg all over their faces, Union officials have contacted Hammond, apologized and are "bending over backwards" to make it up to him.

Why Do They Think Gender Will Fix The Country?

At the risk of being labeled “sexist,” I will begin this post with a statement of “I don’t care what someone’s gender is that is running for office. I care whether or not they will do the job needed.”

You might wonder why I would even mention such a thing in today’s day and age, but it seems the numbers game is what is important to some people over electing people with the best ability to govern properly and turn the economy back around.

I might also add that partisan affiliation is secondary to me as well, although the current batch of Democrat politicians have performed even worse than the previous Republican batch they began replacing in 2006.

What brought this thought on was an email I received this morning from Kristin at MomsRising.org, a leftist group that grew out of Moveon.org and claims to be about “bringing together millions of people who share a common concern about the need to build a more family-friendly America” since 2006, the very year that Democrats were swept into dictatorial control of the American Congress.

Moveon.org, if you recall, was formed late in the Clinton administration largely to encourage the country to just “move on” from the scandals he was embroiled in, particularly the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

I was a bit surprised reading the email this morning as it seemed to be in defense of a Republican woman, something we haven’t seen a lot of coming out of any pro-Democratic group so far. They are fired up apparently, over comments made by WRKO talk-jock duo Tom Finneran and Todd Feinburg in Boston, Massachusetts September 20, 2010 about Republican Treasurer Candidate Karyn Polito.

The email, titled ‘Banging little body.’ Must women running for office put up with this? begins with, “Wonder why we’ll likely have fewer women in Congress after the November elections than we’ve had in the last three decades?” In the body of the email we find, “Cover real issues, not body parts. Stop focusing on the physical attributes of female candidates and ignoring issues that impact families every day like fair pay for women, jobs, access to healthcare and childcare, family leave, and other family economic security policies.”

Pure left-leaning Democrat ideology.

Researching just who Karyn Polito is, since I live some 3,000 miles away in the Pacific Northwest, I was really surprised to discover a comment by Christina Knowles, Bay State director of the National Organization for Women, “That is one of the most sexist, outrageous things I have ever heard in my life,” in regards to the jocks comment of “I think she’s hot. She’s tiny, she’s short. She’s got a banging little body on her. Facial wise, I give her about a seven. Body wise, I give her about an eight-and-a-half. Tight little butt. I endorse Karyn Polito.”

Inappropriate and not something I would use, it is entertainment radio that constantly says all sorts of outrageous remarks about all, politicians especially.

Can we forget James Carville, campaign strategist for Bill Clinton and his snarky comment against Paula Jones of her being “trailer park trash?”

Can we forget demeaning and outrageous comments made about Sarah Palin and her family in the 2008 campaign and since?

I could go on and on but these 2 examples and the silence from groups like MomsRising, Movenon.org and the National Organization for Women has been deafening, until now.

What’s changed?

I believe the answer is found in the first comment from the email quoted above, , “Wonder why we’ll likely have fewer women in Congress after the November elections than we’ve had in the last three decades?” and MomsRising crediting a group, “Name It. Change It” with “leading efforts to stop sexism in the media” and their Top 50 Most Sexist Quotes From The Campaign Trail and claim of “The number of renegade attacks on women politicians is alarming.

From the list we find quotes like,

“Many senators are known for many things .... We in the Senate refer to Sen. Gillibrand as the hottest member.” ~ Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid

“I hope Barack Obama puts another woman on the Supreme Court. And this time, I hope it’s a woman with kids.” ~ Peter Beinart (The Daily Beast)

“God, what is that hair? So yesterday.” ~ Carly Fiorina about Barbara Boxer

“I'm going to treat you like a lady ... now act like one.” ~ Sen. Arlen Specter to Rep. Michele Bachmann

“That’s not change. That’s just calling something the same thing something different. You know you can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig...” ~ Barack Obama about Sarah Palin

“Jan Brewer has the cojones that our President does not have to look out for all Americans in this desire of ours to secure our borders and allow legal immigration to help build this country as was the purpose of immigration law.” ~ Sarah Palin

“She’s running around talking about how this is an insult to sportsmen, how she VALUES the Second Amendment -- she’s talkin’ like she’s Annie Oakley.” ~ Barack Obama about Hillary Clinton

“You’re likable enough, Hillary.” ~ Barack Obama

“Will Women Pols Clean House?” ~ Headline in Newsday during the campaign of 1992

“At her victory party, Hillary was like the heroine of a Lifetime movie, a woman in peril who manages to triumph.” ~ Maureen Dowd

Admittedly I cherry picked some quotes from the list and primarily from Democrats. But, these are considered “sexist?” I see extreme political correctness at work here basically saying you cannot vote against a female candidate and if you do, you’re sexist.

Isn’t that the tactic used against opposition to Barack Obama, that if you don’t support him and his agenda, you’re a racist?

Is this what the country has come down to, selecting elected representatives based upon gender over their ability to perform in the office they seek?

Will we castigate an effective male representative and oust him from office should he compliment a female by saying she looks nice today?

And, why is there no concern about what should also be perceived as “sexist quotes” against males? Did not women ooh and awe over the photo of Barack Obama shirtless? Did they not do the same over a similar photo of Vladimir Putin?

And what of Hillary Clinton saying words to the effect of women are just drawn to her husband because he is such a good looking man when she was defending him against allegations of sexual impropriety while president?

If the quotes given above are sexist, are not similar comments made about men?

This is nothing more than extreme political correctness and regulation of speech in my estimation. No one’s gender has anything to do with their ability to govern or represent.

We have poked fun at and made off color remarks about our elected officials since the country began. But now, some groups wishing to further the leftist agenda will silence words that few even hear and feign outrage in order to elect those sympathetic to their agenda.

Males and females have looked at each other since the dawn of time and will continue to.

Barbs will be shot back and forth between political candidates and should not be lifted out of context to justify smearing an opponent with false charges of “Sexism.”

If a woman loses an election, maybe it isn’t sexism as much as she did not campaign effectively or voters disagreed with her stance on matters of importance to them.

Looking at the current slate of females in power, Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer, Sheila Jackson Lee, Maxine Waters, Dianne Feinstein, Patty Murray and more has not made the country any better, in spite of their holding very powerful seats.

Let’s stop this nonsense. If someone makes a real sexist comment or act, let’s deal with it. But, let’s make sure it’s really sexist and not a ploy to gain votes over a better qualified candidate, male or female.

Let’s judge by their abilities shown to handle the office and not their gender.

In closing, while Republican women have been included in the defense above, pardon me if I don’t hold my breath waiting on these same feminist groups to actually encourage anyone to vote for the Republican woman and most likely to actively oppose them.

Wouldn’t that also be “sexist” of the feminist groups?

UPDATE: Almost as if on cue, Maureen Dowd filed a story with the New York Times with no other intent than bashing women, Republican women!

THREATS TO TROOPS OPPOSED TO OPEN HOMOSEXUALITY

By Attorney Rees Lloyd (Cross posted with authors permission)
October 15, 2010
NewsWithViews.com

In the midst of the national debate over the military policy of “Don’t Ask/Don’t Tell” pertaining to homosexuals, there is now revealed an apparent attempt by the Obama administration to impose what amounts to a reverse “Don’t Ask/Don’t Tell” policy on heterosexual troops who speak in opposition to open homosexuality in their ranks and by their officers.

More particularly, active duty troops are apparently facing express or implied threats under the regime of President Barack Hussein Obama that if they speak out against open homosexuality in the military, they should “get out” of the military.
The Washington Times, which first exposed this, has called for an investigation by the Army Inspector General. It reports in part:

"In an August incident reported by The Washington Times but denied by the Pentagon, Lt. Gen. Thomas P. Bostick, the deputy chief of Army personnel and co-leader of the working group's policy team, reportedly used derogatory terms to describe service members who might resist implementation of a new LGBT [Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual, and Transgender] policy.

“According to sources cited by the Times, one of whom signed a published letter (see Page B2 for a new letter), during an open forum with 500 troops in Stuttgart, Germany, Gen. Bostick suggested that persons disagreeing for reasons of religious conviction would have to ‘get with the program’ or get out. Given conflicting accounts, the Army inspector general should investigate immediately to determine exactly what happened."

If Gen. Bostick did indeed make this statement, just what does it mean? Is our nation now moving from “Don't Ask/Don't Tell” if you are a homosexual, to “get with the program or get out” of the military service if you are a heterosexual who “for reasons of religious conviction” speaks in opposition to open homosexuality in the military?

Whether or not those express words were spoken, active duty personnel should be given not threats but assurances that there will be no retaliation if they express disagreement with a policy of open homosexuality in the military, with its attendant circumstances of limited privacy, including in housing, sleeping quarters, latrines, showers, etc., with even less privacy in the field.

The issue of DA/DT is a complex one in which there is great disagreement and debate. The most important issue is whether open homosexual activity in the military, expressed by speech or conduct, will have a detrimental impact on military capability. Members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff do not agree on the impact; members of the House and Senate have not been able to agree; experts in military matters have not been able to agree. It is an issue of extreme importance-- the military defense of the nation, the primary responsibility the Founding Fathers imposed on the National Government which they created.

It is an important and unfinished debate with lasting implications, and need for continuing, serious study before imposition of a policy of open homosexual conduct on those who serve.

Indeed, if the policy of open homosexuality by word and deed is imposed, it amounts to a transformation of the military from the time of General George Washington in the War of Independence until the war being fought against terrorism today.

Now, it appears, the persons most impacted by the ultimate decision, the soldiers, sailors, marines, air force and coast guard personnel, are to be excluded from the national debate by any speech activity other than support of open homosexuality in their ranks, even if their objection is based -- or perhaps because their opposition is based -- upon “religious conviction.”

This ban on speech activity would include in the particular, of course, enlisted personnel over whom homosexual officers, commissioned and non- commissioned, with a sexual interest in others of the same sex, have all but total power over enlisted men and women in the lower ranks.

Will the military now begin advertising for recruits with media messages which include the warning: “Persons who do not support open homosexuality in the military, particularly if based on religious conviction, need not apply?”

Is this policy of open homosexually in the military, with an apparent gag order on military personnel who do not support it, a policy desired and supported by members of the military, or by the American people -- the military defense of whom, from enemies foreign and domestic, is the primary duty, above all other duties, of the National Government, particularly the Presidency, as envisioned by the Founding Fathers?

Is this apparent threat, express or implied, to military personnel to the effect that they must silently go along with open homosexuality in the military, or get out of the military, how Americans, who send their sons and daughters off to serve their country, desire the American military, and the American nation, to be “transformed?”

President and Commander-In-Chief General George Washington forbade open homosexuality in the Revolutionary Army, and literally “drummed out of service” and publicly denounced an officer who made a homosexual attempt on an enlisted soldier. Every successor President and Commander-in-Chief has followed a policy precluding open homosexuality.

Now, self-described “progressive” President and Commander-in-Chief Barack Hussein Obama intends to transform the military by imposing a policy approving of open homosexuality. And he is apparently attempting to achieve that transformation by silencing troops who may desire to speak in opposition.

Obama, unlike most who serve in the enlisted ranks, has led a privileged life, attending private not public school while young, and later attending elite college and universities, although he has caused his records at those elite schools sealed from inspection for reasons unexplained.

Like so many other privileged, elitist “progressives” in his administration, Obama never deigned to serve a day in the military to defend American freedom. Others, most much less advantaged than Obama, who was the farthest thing from disadvantaged, went to military service, including war. He went to Occidental, Columbia, and Harvard.

Thus, Obama knows nothing personally of the impact of open homosexuality on those who do serve in the military -- especially the impact on enlisted men and women over whose careers, and lives; their homosexually interested officers have all but absolute power.

There should be a full and detailed investigation by the Army IG, and by the appropriate committees of House and Senate, as to whether our American military personnel are being subjected to threats, express or implied, that if they speak of their opposition to Obama’s policy of open homosexuality in the military, they should “get out” of the military.

More immediately, President Obama, as Commander-in-Chief, aware of the accusations, should expressly and publicly repudiate any attempt by those under his command to silence troops, whether by threat or otherwise. Obama ought to publicly pledge that he will protect troops from threats or retaliation for expressing opposition to Obama’s policy of open homosexuality.

Indeed, those soldiers, sailors, marines, air force and coast guard personnel, should have no less right to speak in opposition to open homosexuality in the military than those who support it -- even if their opposition is based on “religious conviction.”
Most importantly, Americans should not remain silent while Obama silences the troops who defend Americans, including with their lives.

Michelle Obama Caught Violating Illinois Election Law

Developing story, Michelle Obama, First Lady of America cast an early vote in her South Chicago District. After casting her ballot and returning her voter key, she apparently paused for photos to be taken of herself and engaged others voters in political discussion INSIDE the polling place, encouraging voters to vote to keep her husband's agenda going.

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs defended Mrs. Obama saying, "I don't think it would be much to imagine, the First Lady might support her husband's agenda."

Mrs. Obama, a Harvard educated lawyer, "may have simply been ignorant of the law and thus violated it," claimed top Illinois State Board of Elections official. The official added, "You kind of have to drop the standard for the first lady, right? I mean, she's pretty well liked and probably doesn't know what she's doing."

Illinois law Sec. 17-29 (a) states, "No judge of election, pollwatcher, or other person shall, at any primary or election, do any electioneering or soliciting of votes or engage in any political discussion within any polling place [or] within 100 feet of any polling place."

Equal justice? I don't hold my breath waiting on anything to come of this.

If it had been Laura Bush, however...........

UPDATE: The Chicago Sun-Times reports on Mrs. Obama's voting and includes, "'She was telling me how important it was to vote to keep her husband’s agenda going,' said Dennis Campbell, a 56-year-old electrician."

Curiously, the Chicago Tribune, via the LA Times included in their coverage, "Obama abided by election laws that prohibit electioneering within 100 feet of a polling place," with no reason given for the defensive sentence.

Marine Corporal David W. Hedrick Arrested, Pleads Not Guilty to Assault Charge

Breaking news from the Columbian, the loud mouthed brash GOP candidate known for confronting retiring congressman Brian Baird in Washington State 3rd Congressional District and highly praised by Clark County GOP officials for running such a grand campaign, Marine Corporal David W. Hedrick was arrested from his Camas home early Sunday morning, October 10, 2010 for assaulting his petite wife.

Hedrick, who continually claimed to have “kept my oath” yet never openly discussed his brief career in the U. S. Marine Corps pled Not Guilty to one count of fourth-degree assault domestic violence, that could result in his serving year in jail and a possible $5,000 fine, if convicted.

Hedrick, who has been stumping throughout the 3rd Congressional District for GOP candidate Jaime Herrera, claimed he did not hit his wife, but pushed her to the floor when she tried to strike him with a folding chair.

His petite wife admitted to charging towards him with the chair only after being knocked to the floor by the Marine Corporal.

Hedrick quickly became a favorite candidate of some fringe elements of Tea Party groups from Southwest Washington after reneging on his word to support conservative Republican David Castillo. It rapidly became apparent that his goal was running interference for the establishment candidate that he immediately jumped behind the evening of the primary election.

Supporters of Hedrick’s often smeared Castillo on the comments section of the Columbian claiming he was a violent hothead and he was seen inciting a fight in a Centralia parking lot, some saying Hedrick was present and others claiming he wasn’t.

Hedrick who was shown to have displayed somewhat of a paranoid attitude on concealed carry of a weapon during an interview with Seattle’s alternative media, The Stranger in July, entered his not guilty plea and was released on bond is due to reappear in court for a pre-trial hearing November 2, election day.

Hedrick won praise from the Columbian’s managing editor Lou Brancaccio and was lauded by Clark County GOP chair Ryan Hart as “an asset to any campaign he chooses to support.” Past Clark GOP chair Anna Miller, although claiming to be a strong supporter of his eventual GOP nominee Jaime Herrera, urged Republicans to give Hedrick a “serious look” during the campaign.

Ironically, Hedrick’s review article ran by the Columbian was titled “I like to fight for what I believe.”

After a surprisingly good showing in the primary election, Hedrick quickly got behind former opponent Herrera saying of her, “I like Jaime. I have a lot of respect for her.” He was also quoted at the time saying, ““we need to return to the values that our nation was founded on.”

Respect for his wife is currently questionable and spousal abuse is a “value” I never learned growing up.

A Sheriff’s Department Spokesperson said that possible charges against Hedrick’s much smaller wife were referred to “Clark County Domestic Violence Prosecution Center for review.”

The Herrera campaign has not released comment on the matter or whether or not they will continue to use Hedrick in promoting Ms. Herrera at public events.

Hedrick, known for witty quips during the campaign, has not made any comment to the media when contacted.

I look forward to comment from the former Marine, who never saw a single day combat according to his DD 214, on this, his second marriage.

Hedrick is the second Republican candidate in recent days to face arrest, the first being former 18th Legislative District candidate Anthony Bittner, arrested and charged on multiple felony counts of drugs, home invasion and possible counterfeiting.

Clark County GOP chair Ryan Hart stated in August concerning Hedrick, “He’s passionate with his beliefs. I love his energy and enthusiasm, and we want him to stay involved.”

Party chair Hart might want to reconsider his thought now.
