Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never, in nothing, great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense. - Winston Churchill
“A veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard, or reserve - is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to The 'United States of America', for an amount of 'up to and including my life.'” (Author unknown)

I stood up, I showed up, I stepped forward. I raised my right hand, I stood in the gap, I walked in the fire. I did not run, I did not hide, I did not dodge, I did not evade.
Consequently...
I have nothing to prove, no one to convince, those who matter, already know. Those who don't, never will. (Author Unknown)

I spend half my income on predominantly non-discretionary consumption and insurance.
I use 10% of my income for retirement savings - mostly catch up for beginning late in life.
I spend 40% of my income on taxes.
For the money I spend on taxes, I get:
- roads with potholes
- public schools which suck
- high crime rates
- bailouts for people who made poor financial decisions
- buses and trains that are dirty, late, and dangerous
- inadequate commitment of military forces toward domestic security and victory in foreign wars
- prisons so overcrowded, judges are letting criminals go
- public benefits for illegal immigrants
- a negative return on investment for Social Security, if I get anything at all
- no toys in Happy Meals, no meat on Mondays, and no pedigreed pooches
- rusting bridges and tunnels
I don't believe any generation in America ever suffered such an onerous burden of taxes for such meager government benefits and intrusive government regulation.
That I recall from history class in school, we fought a revolution over much lower taxation and an intrusive government back in the late 1700's.
November will hopefully be the next "shot heard around the world" as these tax happy Democrats and RINO's are ousted.
