When You Have No Ideas or Plans

October 2, 2006

Here we are, deep into the campaign for the Mid-term elections, which are barely over a month away. We have troops spread out in Harm’s Way fighting the most severe threat to our way of life we have faced, Islamic Fascist Terrorism. We have a flood of Illegal Immigrants pouring into the country through porous borders and somehow, receiving benefits paid for by American Taxpayers.

Our economy is running along pretty well, but our Automobile Manufacturers are seeing a severe sales slump and the Housing Boom we saw the past couple years seems to be cooling somewhat.

The country itself seems to be functioning pretty well, considering we are at war with a ruthless enemy hell-bent on our destruction. Still, we have some serious issues and problems facing us as a nation. At least, we have plenty of issues to be discussed and proposals that need made to give us voters an idea of who will run the country better, leaving it in the hands of Republicans or returning Democrats to control.

One would think our candidates would be spreading their ideas around, enticing the voters to cast their ballots there way.

What do we actually see and hear? The same rhetoric against George W. Bush we have been hearing since he was elected. I receive email after email from the DCCC complaining about the Bush administration in every way imaginable.

Bob Woodward, famed author and reporter from the Watergate era, releases a book with several damning claims against the Bush Administration. Several of those quoted in his book have come forward stating they never said or felt the things he attributes to them. That doesn’t stop the lamestream media, who must be in the pocket of the non-custodial party. Article after article has come out, ignoring those Woodward quoted and print whatever Woodward claims in his book.

Someone, after sitting on copies of lurid and improper IMs and emails between Republican Congressman from Florida, Mark Foley, an assumed shoe-in this election, suddenly appear in the press, after being withheld and hidden away for nearly 3 years. That doesn’t excuse anything Foley did, but it makes me wonder why they were held onto for that length of time.

It is made into an almost immediate scandal with the minority party doing their best to implicate the leadership of the majority party in cover-ups. Grandstanding and demands of investigations are made. Resignations are demanded. Yet, these same minority party members circled their wagons around members of their own party when they committed even worse sins. They also fail to recognize or admit that withholding this information from those who could have put a stop to it placed the very teenagers they claim to be worried about in danger from a potential pedophile.

Constant and never ending demands are made upon the President to fire or otherwise get rid of his Secretary of Defense, Secretary of State and admit he is a liar and murderer.

Despots from other countries show up at the United Nations to speak out against us and bash President Bush and receive a standing ovation in our own cities.

The former Secretary of State lets leak that the President didn’t follow his lead and the minority party jumps at that too. Does it ever occur to any of them that the Secretary of State serves at the leisure of whoever the President is? NO! Just because he was a retired General and former Chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff, doesn’t place him over the President nor does it make him all knowing.

Speeches are made almost daily on the floor of Congress complaining about nearly everything done by President Bush and Republicans. Candidates appear on TV and Radio shows and when asked, “what is your idea to solve such and such,” the usual response elicited is something along the lines of, “Well, the Bush administration didn’t do..,” or “Republicans haven’t managed to .. “ or even, “Republicans continually fail to ..” Anything Democrat candidates are asked elicits an answer which is nothing more than bashing their opponent.

A small handful of former Military people have joined forces with them and they too stand up and engage in the same rhetoric, offer nothing, bash Bush. They are paraded as holding “moral authority” while other decorated Veterans are likewise bashed, belittled, ridiculed and ignored. They are held up as “experts” in the War on Terror, but the only replies one gets to questions on how better to fight it ends up being, “redeploy,” “withdraw,” “Bush hasn’t done it right,” and “set a timetable for withdrawal.”

Almost daily, we hear calls of “Democrats can do it better,” “Democrats have a better way,” “We have the right plan,” and more. Queries to just what those plans or ideas are elicit the usual litany of bash Bush and Republicans rhetoric.

Personally, and I don’t think I’m the only one that sees it, if they had any real plans or ideas, they would express them. Why not state what they are and let voters decide who would best be trusted governing the nation?

Why? The answer is obvious. Democrats have no ideas, no plans, no real values, and no conscience. All they have is their desire to return to power and they don’t care how they accomplish it. They don’t desire to discuss issues. Doing so would expose they have no new ideas or plans, just the same old Impeach Bush and impose their Socialistic agenda.

When you have no ideas or plans, you act like Democrats do today. You obfuscate, you bash, you divert attention, and you do anything but address the issues.

That is the epitome of the state of affairs the Democrats are in.

It always astounds me the number of books that come out around election time.

The problem is there are too many in this country that take it foregranted as truth and do not see through the guises of these people.

Makes we also wonder who is really running this country, political has beens, journalists, or the groupies with their liberal agenda?

Woodward's book is rubbish and belongs in the trash along with so many Bush bashing books of late.

I guess Col. Hunt's book, "Why We Fight" is not good reading for a liberal and many others that are so narrow minded, biased, and full of nothing but rhetoric.

Were a Democrat truly to have a plan I think it would snow in summer. Not totally impossible Lew, just not probable.

I dunno, I think the biggest problem has been that with the Republicans in charge of all parts of the Congress and Executive branch, there is no reason for the Democrats to be consulted.
I don't understand, journalists are journalists, and they are after news. If there is one thing that sells well, is people in power falling hard. I don't see how that's a liberal agenda. They only run the country inasmuch as their copy sells. If we want to stop the mindless sensationalism, we should be focused on a non-partisan effort to clean up political reporting in general.
To finish off, I will say that I believe this last 8 years has been a travesty in terms of corruption, spending, success in war. It makes me sad. Angry too, but sad first.

Hi Peter, thanks for your comment. I appreciate a chance to address an opposing view.

I dunno, I think the biggest problem has been that with the Republicans in charge of all parts of the Congress and Executive branch, there is no reason for the Democrats to be consulted.

Contrary to popular opinion, or at least what has been claimed, they are consulted. They have representation on all committees and stand upon the floor of Congress to express their views. At times, they have also filibustered to block legislation or appointments, as per our constitution. Some 80% of journalists are admitted liberals as well, so their views usually end up taking precedence.

Contrast that to when the Democrats had control of the entire government, the last time being the first two years of Clinton’s Presidency. Contrast that also to Reagan’s terms when he had a Democrat Congress. He had to take his message straight to the people to get it put through.

President Bush has reached out to Democrats time and time again only to end up being bashed anyways.

Journalists have the country in their pocket in having the ability to control what we read and see. Or, they used to. Example: What good news stories have you ever heard of the Iraq War? Or, the Viet Nam War? In the case of Viet Nam, stories were actually fabricated and looked upon today as historical facts.

I would prefer to just get the news, good and bad, without personal input. It’s hard to do now, but looking outside of the mainstream media, it can be found. When possible, I try to go direct to Centcom or MNFI for news on the war. That and I discuss it with whoever I find that’s served there at my local VFW.

I’ll ask you the same question I always ask about the press. If you don’t feel they are biased against the right, please show me any positive stories in the last 6 years about Bush or the Republicans from the mainstream media.

To finish off, I will say that I believe this last 8 years has been a travesty in terms of corruption, spending, success in war. It makes me sad. Angry too, but sad first.

I’m sure you meant 6, but no biggie. All the claims of corruption is nothing more than the pot calling the kettle black and getting a pass from the press. Excuses are made for all the gaffs of the left in power, but a parking ticket for the Republican is a major scandal.

Spending has been ridiculous, no argument. Both parties have spent like drunken sailors and Republicans have heard about it.
This war has been a lot more successful than the public realizes. Of course, that doesn’t get reported as anything that might help Republicans hurts Democrats. Why can’t it just be what helps the country?

The left keeps crying the economy is bad off. Yet, just today, the Dow average surpassed it’s highest ever record, unemployment is lower than it has been in decades and home ownership, even by minorities, has hit all time highs. Tax receipts to the government at hitting record highs as well, thanks to the Bush tax cuts, which went to everyone, not just the wealthy.

I see many people angry today, but their anger is misplaced. You should be angry at being manipulated by the left.
