When The World Was Peaceful

The decay of American strength started many years ago when the party of cut and run began apologizing to the world for our existence. Our advantage of superior strength began to fester with an incurable disease of defeatism that has spread to the point where we can no longer recover. The best we can hope for is an amputation that will leave us crippled, but still somewhat functional.
All great societies that have fallen in the past by making concessions. the Only countries that have remained strong are those that have kept their diplomacy of self-defense, and have exercised their God given right to self-preservation regardless of political correctness.
The moment we started backing off from a strong, authoritative position was the moment that those who have always hated us regardless of what we’ve done for them, began disrespecting us, challenging our resolve to defend ourselves. These countries saw a weakness that they correctly noted could be exploited, and they’ve been very successful in hamstringing us into a near impotent position of vulnerability.

Why are attempts to establish peace, as an alternative to killing people, seen as weakness?
It is not just war I am thinking about, this occurs on the school playground as well. It is in our species, possibly very genetic.
Maybe we need to just remain so powerful, in terms of having weapons to crush and being willing to use them, to protect ourselves. Why would I even think otherwise based on our history as a species?
Or do those who refuse to fight have it right. Those who say, I won't do it, and if enough other people (on all sides of a conflict) do this, the leaders will not have pawns to fight their wars.
I don't know if we have done the right thing in Iraq so far, but I have strong feelings that we can not leave before we stabilize things.
coboble, our enemies don't think like us at all. They see negotiations as a weakness and act accordingly. History is replete with examples of failue of Diplomacy and negotiations. WW1 was a negotiated cease fire and it led directly to WW2. Viet Nam was a negotiated cease fire that led to teh enslavement of that country and the fall of two others to communism. Korea is still a hotbed that was also a negotiated cease fire to stop the fighting in the early 1950s.
Ultimately, war is the outcome of failed diplomacy which happens way too often. But, as long as we have enemies who desire world domination and bringing down our strength, we will have war.
Talking things out to prevent conflict is great. Its just that it fails to stop anything all too often.
Ronald Regan put it best when he said: "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it was once like in the United States where men were free."
