DCCC Claims: We Got Karl Roves Playbook

August 6, 2007

In an email received today, Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee Chair, Chris Van Hollen makes the statement, “Last week, we got a hold of Karl Rove's 2008 playbook for grabbing power back for Republicans in Congress.” He continues, “As we expected, he plans to keep coming after Democrats with the same old tired formula of smears and vicious 'swift-boat' style attacks -- stepping up a campaign of lies during August, when Members of Congress are working in their home districts.”

To this I reply, “Yeah, Uh huh, Sure!”

I particularly love the “vicious 'swift-boat' style attacks” claim. They are still desperately trying to make the effective exposure of their failed 2004 candidate, John ‘F’in Kerry (who served in Viet Nam) as lies. Of course, they have never countered anything over 250 highly decorated Viet Nam Veterans claimed, just labeled them lies.

So effective were these brave men that the Democrat party can’t let go or admit they were beat at their own game by a truly grassroots campaign of Honorable Veterans.

Instead of just admitting they were skunked at their own game, they continually attack this group of Highly Decorated Viet Nam Veterans while trying to make their groups name synonymous with lies and deceit. Sorry, Democrats, it isn’t working. The voters saw that your candidate wasn’t honorable and denied him and you the chance to grab office.

In what I see as a classic case of projection, Van Hollen claims they will be attacked by “the same old tired formula of smears.” Of course, he neglects his own party’s hand in smearing Tom Foley just before the 2006 election, after knowing of his misdeeds for over a year. They neglect their own hand in the continual lies and smears they have issued against President Bush, labeling him as dumb, low I.Q., stupid, illiterate and such, while at the same time claiming he outsmarted all of them over the War on Terror Iraq Theater.

Since grabbing congressional power in the 2006 elections, what have they accomplished? Nothing but more and more senseless hearings, investigations, and committees in a vain attempt at convincing the American voter how corrupt Republicans and George W. Bush are. They claim legal actions taken by the President are unethical, requiring hearings and such, wasting millions of dollars of taxes, because they may be “politically motivated.” HELLO!!!! What are the endless hearings and investigations, if not also “politically motivated?”

It is little wonder that congressional ratings are at an all time low, even lower than the Presidents. But, as I showed in my “Contract On America” post, they blame that too on President Bush.

Back in June, the wife of presidential hopeful John Edwards, Elizabeth, called for an elevating of Political Dialogue, as she and NBC’s Chris Matthews sucker-punched Columnist, Ann Coulter on the program, Hardball. I guess this is an example of the “elevation of political dialogue” the Democrat party intends. Republicans should play “nice” while Democrats sling mud and spread all the lies and deceit they can gather.

Not that I’m surprised, but this is what we can expect for the next year and a half as Democrats desperately try to cling to power and grab the While House as well. They country and its citizens come in a distant second to their quest for a total takeover of the country and implementing their agenda, recreating the failed Soviet Union under their tutelage as they continue to gut the Constitution, raise taxes and give away entitlements to those in our country illegally, as well as surrender to radical Jihadists.

Their power comes long before you do, my friends.

Of course, no campaign email would be complete with the obligatory request for more money and Van Hollen doesn’t disappoint. But, if they have the truth, as he claims, wouldn’t the party be able to express it daily through their willing accomplices in the lamestream media?

This is going to be a long and tiring campaign season as we see things heat up even between Democrat and Republican candidates vying to outdo the other before they even take on whoever ends up being nominated. Maybe the Democrats goal is to drive even more voters away from the polls, as they did in 2006, by all their negativity and slanderous claims.

We are really in a sad state of affairs in this day and age, while we face the worst enemy we ever have. Somehow, the fourth arm of the government, ‘We The People,’ must retake the country and return it to some semblance of sanity.

We can start by showing the Democrat party that we no longer fall for their lies and dishonorable treatment of Veterans and Citizens.

Dear Lew,

The best defense is a strong offense -- and that's exactly what we have planned for August.

Last week, we got a hold of Karl Rove's 2008 playbook for grabbing power back for Republicans in Congress. As we expected, he plans to keep coming after Democrats with the same old tired formula of smears and vicious 'swift-boat' style attacks -- stepping up a campaign of lies during August, when Members of Congress are working in their home districts.

Democrats are united and fighting back this August with the most powerful weapon there is against Karl Rove -- the truth.

We are launching our own August Offensive that tells the real story about the progress we've made and our plans to continue tackling the challenges that still lie ahead. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is starting today with a national cable television ad, highlighting the New Direction for America that Democrats are charting for America. We need your help to raise $250,000 to keep our ad on the air and continue our strong offense. The clock is ticking so we need to move quickly.

Catch an insider look at the ad today and help us keep it on the air by contributing $25, $50 or more to the DCCC.

In 2006, Democrats won because Democrats fought back -- early and aggressively. We held the Republicans accountable for Rubber Stamping the President's disastrous policies for America. But most of all, we sent Karl Rove an early message that no 'swift-boat' attack would be tolerated.

Our August Offensive takes our winning 2006 strategy to the next level. Last week, Speaker Pelosi shared with you our 2008 Grassroots Campaign Plan. Our August Offensive is an important part of Phase One from that plan. It puts the Republicans squarely on the defensive.

Our national cable ad holds the Republicans' feet to the fire while they are in their home districts. It also hits back earlier than ever by reminding voters of everything Democrats have delivered -- a higher minimum wage, better healthcare for our veterans, a strong lobbying reform bill to change the way Washington does business, and the beginning of the end of the President's failures in Iraq. But we need your help to get our campaign off the ground.

Supporting the DCCC's August Offensive is the single best way you can hold the Republicans' feet to the fire and support the Democrats' New Direction for America.

Fight Back Against Karl Rove's Spin Machine: Catch an insider look at our ad today and help us keep it on the air by contributing $25, $50 or more to the DCCC.

Karl Rove will be spending August attacking Democrats. Help Democrats use August to get the truth out about everything we're doing to change the direction of our country -- most importantly ending the Bush Administration's failed policies in Iraq.

Sincerely,

Chris Van Hollen
DCCC Chair

A juicy find there, Lew. And a good foot forward from Duncan.
