Democratic Civility? Where?

Everyone has heard the floor speech of Rep. Alan Grayson, Democrat Florida, where he claimed Republicans plan for healthcare is "if you get sick, die quickly." He justifies his vitriol by claiming Republicans have no plan, even though every single amendment or bill submitted by Republicans is ignored or thrown away.

Calls of an apology for his "Joe Wilson" comments were met with the sarcastic "I would like to apologize, I apologize to the dead and their families that we haven't voted sooner to end this holocaust in America."

Grayson is not a native Floridian and gives a prime example of why many of us native Floridians moved away from the once decent state of Florida, too many New Yorkers with their vitriolic rhetoric and mean-spirited discourse in day to day life. Grayson is a transplant from the Bronx, New York.

This isn't the first such time Grayson has verbally attacked Republicans in such an uncivil manner. Earlier in 2009, commenting on Rush Limbaugh hoping Obama's policies fail, he blurted, "Rush Limbaugh is a has-been hypocrite loser, who craves attention. His right-wing lunacy sounds like Mikhail Gorbachev, extolling the virtues of communism. Limbaugh actually was more lucid when he was a drug addict. If America ever did 1% of what he wanted us to do, then we'd all need pain killers."

Calls for an apology to Rush for that over the top claim brought, "I’m sorry Limbaugh called for harsh sentences for drug addicts while he was a drug addict. I'm also sorry that he’s bent on seeing America fail. And I’m sorry that Limbaugh is one sorry excuse for a human being."

Appearing on CNN's Situation Room to "discuss" his hateful comments, refused to back away from his hate filled speech by now saying Republicans are, "foot-dragging, knuckle-dragging Neanderthals."

Even the bombastic James Carville cringed at this and said, "I would call (them) regressive as opposed to Neanderthal," after first congratulating Grayson for having "the courage to go up and say what he said."

Grayson also went on to say of the majority of Americans now opposed to this debacle of a plan, "whoever it is that's causing the Republicans to fight tooth-and-nail against anything, absolutely anything, to have every vote come down to being 257 to 175 in the House, over and over and over again. Those are the people who are really disserving Americans."

Republicans offered the usual weak comments from National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Ken Spain of "Grayson is doubling down on his despicable remarks and he is dragging his party with him," adding "This is an individual who has established a pathological pattern of unstable behavior. He is derailing the national debate on health care reform and embarrassing his constituents as a result."

Tennessee Republican Jimmy Duncan said, "That is about the most mean-spirited partisan statement that I've ever heard made on this floor, and I, for one, don't appreciate it."

Marsha Blackburn, another Tennessee Republican said, "It's fully appropriate that the gentleman return to the floor and apologize."

We shouldn't be too surprised at such vitriol coming from Democrats when they are demanding a more civil discourse; they have a history of slinging such vitriol at opponents instead of civilly discussing anything.

Frances Rice, Chair of the National Black Republican Association reminds us of the mean-spirited calls Democrats make against Black Americans who leave the Democrats "political plantation" and express conservative ideals.

Civility seems to be unknown to Democrats.

Calls upon Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi to condemn Grayson as swiftly as she did Joe Wilson are being met with *crickets.*

Bush Warned Us While Democrats Laughed And Applauded

Now that President Bush is no longer in office, I am amazed at how he was considered the stupidest President ever, scoffed at and ridiculed for being inept, yet so many of his predictions are coming true.

The latest is over his efforts to reform Social Security when he was giving ominous warnings of potential failure, bankruptcy and large deficits.

In his 2006 State of the Union Address, he mentioned how Congress failed to act on any of his proposals to reform Social Security, at which time virtually every single Democrat in the hall stood and applauded, interrupting the speech. They were delighted to have stopped his efforts and yes, they were very rude about it.

Can you say “Joe Wilson?”

No, they did not call him a liar this time, but nonetheless, they were very rude in interrupting the speech, as can be seen in the video below.

Hard to see in the video is then junior Senator from Illinois, Barrack Hussein Obama, who also joined in the merriment at defeating any reforms to the growing Social Security deficits looming before us.

They offered no alternatives, just more of the same old status quo they are seen deriding today.

Imagine my astonishment, sitting here one year and one day away from that magical early retirement age, unemployed with little prospect of finding gainful employment, what with unemployment hitting 13.9% in my area and reading Social Security strained by early retirements.

Oh?

Nancy Pelosi, now speaker of the house and others said in 2005,
“There is no Social Security crisis. We all agree that there is a problem down the road that we should address before it becomes a bigger problem?” She added, “Along comes President Bush who wants to create a crisis and manufacture an issue, and in so doing turn a guaranteed benefit into a guaranteed gamble. And to that we and American people say: ‘Mr. President, no dice!’”

March 6, 2005 Pelosi appeared on Fox News Sunday and addressing Social Security reforms said,
“Your previous speaker said incorrectly that Social Security would be in the red in 2018. That’s simply not true. The more money going out than coming in doesn’t start until 2030. There's time for us to do this right.”

Well, Ms. Pelosi, it’s 2009 and you have been speaker for over 2 years and what have you proposed? NOTHING! Social Security is facing deficits of $10 billion in 2010 and $9 billion in 2011 due to the high unemployment amongst those of us of retirement age who can’t find work to continue to work until 65 or 67.

Candidate Obama said during last years campaign,
“But if my opponent had his way, the millions of Floridians who rely on it would’ve had their Social Security tied up in the stock market this week. Millions would’ve watched as the market tumbled and their nest egg disappeared before their eyes. Millions of families would’ve been scrambling to figure out how to give their mothers and fathers, their grandmothers and grandfathers, the secure retirement that every American deserves,”
in a total misrepresentation of what President Bush’s proposal was, as indicated by none other then the left-leaning Factcheck.org.

Just days before being inaugurated as president, Obama said about the looming Social Security problems,
“What we have done is kicked this can down the road. We are now at the end of the road and are not in a position to kick it any further. We have to signal seriousness in this by making sure some of the hard decisions are made under my watch, not someone else’s.”

In the campaign, depending on where and to whom he spoke to, Social Security was either a crisis or not in a crisis.

Today, Obama indicates the problem of Social Security is something he would like to look into “next year.”

In the meantime, while we wait for dear leader to solve every other ill of society, millions of us hitting early retirement age, unemployed and with only a slim possibility of returning to a viable job any time soon with the ever-rising unemployment rates, wonder what we are to do.

Watching the video again, as Democrats gleefully and emphatically applauded their successful efforts at blocking the prevention of this current crisis 4 years ago, I can’t help but wonder if this might be another one of those times dear leader feels older Americans should just skip the cure and take a painkiller.

Obama, Recognize Honduras!

Some months ago now, the Honduran government deposed sitting president, Manuel Zelaya under legal steps taken in accord with their constitution.

Hondurans have been standing alone , falsely accused of a military coup, denied travel visas and ostracized by the so-called free world, led by Barrack Hussein Obama, Hugo Chavez and Hillary Clinton.

The trio has shown themselves to be inept at virtually everything but strong-arming people who try to remain free.

The story has slipped off of the front pages as Honduras defied the world and stood firm, clinging to their own constitution and as the country returned to calm after ousted leader Zelaya’s futile efforts to breech the borders and return were publicized and the Honduran Courts refused to reinstall him to power, as called for the inept trio above and recommended by Costa Rican mediator, President Oscar Arias who seemed to be more interested in returning Zelaya to power against the wishes of a majority of Hondurans that solving any crisis.

That peace settling in over Honduras was shattered this week as the ousted Zelaya managed to sneak back into the country, hiding in the trunk of a car and sought refuge in the Brazilian embassy, restarting his call for civil insurrection to reinstate him to power.

He has also become quite delusional claiming that "Israeli mercenaries'' are torturing him with high-frequency radiation. Having to sleep on chairs and suffering from a sore throat due to toxic gases.

I am really disappointed in the Brazilian government for allowing Zelaya to camp out in their embassy and try to plunge the country into civil war just so he may be president for another couple months.

A study directed by the Library of Congress has poured over the Honduran constitution and has now determined “that the dismissal of President Manuel Zelaya of Honduras was legal and in full accordance with the Constitution,” according to an article appearing in the Honduran Diario El Heraldo (in Spanish, English translation HERE)

The full issued by the Library of Congress is available HERE (English)

Of interest in the report released by Rep. Aaron Schock (R. Il) is, “The Congressional Research Service, a nonpartisan agency, concluded that the removal of President Zelaya was constitutional and we must uphold that finding. It is unacceptable that our government try to force Honduras to violate its own constitution by cutting foreign aid.”

The report also says they feel the removal of Zelaya out of the country was unconstitutional and that Zelaya should be allowed to “exit the Brazilian embassy, the Honduran interim government should recognize that his ouster was punishment enough for the steps he took and abandon plans to prosecute and issue a general amnesty for all involved in the recall.”

With Zelaya still calling on insurrection and inciting a civil war, I can’t be positive that would workable and apparently neither is Rep. Schock as he even adds, “[Zelaya] as a private citizen, is entitled to campaign for the candidate of his choice in the upcoming elections, but if it incites violence [he] should be arrested and prosecuted.”

It also would appear that Zelaya is not ready for such an arrangement as he was quoted in a Friday September 25, 2009 UK Telegraph article asking his supporters to continue protesting for his return to office.

Zelaya said, “We urge the resistance to maintain the battle until together, people and president, we achieve the constitutional reforms and the fall of the usurpers.”

What sort of man would be willing to plunge his country into a bloody civil war just so he could sit as president for 2 or 3 months?

Honduras’s interim government, led by Roberto Micheletti is continuing with the scheduled November election in spite of warnings from the Obama regime that they may not recognize the winner of the election.

Such actions will surely plunge Honduras fully into the bloody civil war Obama and Hillary claim they wish to avert.

Obama, it is time for you to step and be a man. It is time for you to stand for law & order. It is time for you to take the necessary steps to avert a bloody civil war in Honduras and recognize the interim government as the legal government of the country and accept the results of the citizen’s vote.

Obama has already abdicated the title of leader of the free world to Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu.

What more must be lost as he works to turn the whole world into a false socialist utopia?

Recognize Honduras, Obama. Salvage what little is left of your credibility with the free world.

Barack Hussein Obama, Mmmm, Mmmm, Mmmm.

More information at Michelle Malkin

Imagine the cry if the kids were being taught, George W. Bush, Mmmm, Mmmm, Mmmm.

The video seems to be the work of Charisse Carney-Nunes, senior vice president of The Jamestown Project, “the award-winning author of the children’s books, I Am Barack Obama (2009),” and according to her biography, “a graduate of Harvard Law School, where she was a schoolmate of Barack Hussein Obama.”

The lyrics, courtesy of Gateway Pundit and Fox News

Song 1:
Mm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama

He said that all must lend a hand
To make this country strong again
Mmm, mmm, mm!

He said we must be fair today
Equal work means equal pay
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama

He said that we must take a stand
To make sure everyone gets a chance
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama

He said red, yellow, black or white
All are equal in his sight
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama

Yes!
Mmm, mmm, mm

Oh How We Need Duncan Hunter Today

Some of you may recall of long shot candidate for president in the 2008 election, Duncan Hunter and how he could never garner the support of Huckabee, Romney or McCain. Many really liked his positions and strong conservative principles, but just wouldn’t get behind a long shot candidate.

We ended up with super moderate McCain and in the election, had our clocks cleaned by Democrats playing the race card resulting in the apologizer in chief we now have, Barack Obama.

Hunter retired from the House and his son ran for his seat and won, holding it today.

Both father and son are Veterans, the older of Viet Nam and the younger of the War on Terror in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

As I pointed out in August 2007, Hunter was The Most Consistent Candidate in the running, but remained ignored by too many.

To me, Hunter was The Right Man For The Right Reasons, but he remained largely ignored by the media, who we all know do not care for conservative values or taking a strong stance on protecting America and those waiting for a resurrection of Ronald Reagan.

As is said, we get the government we deserve and boy, did we get it this time.

No real sense in “I told you so’s,” as Hunter has retired and it is unknown whether he will return to politics or not.

He has not being totally silent, though, as can be seen in a short paper he authored, Substituting Hope for a Policy pointing out weakness in Obama’s foreign policies that will not bode well for America, just as Jimmy Carter’s decimation of America hurt us and in large part propelled Ronald Reagan into the presidency, even though he was not as popular as he was to become at the time.

As can be seen in the above linked post, we need Hunter back in politics at some level. We need his strength, his level-headedness and yes, his Patriotism and belief in a strong America to counter little tin horn despots, as was seen just today by the rambling speech at the United Nations by Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi immediately after yet another apologetic diatribe by Barack Obama.

It is unknown if Hunter will ever seek high office again and personally, I doubt he will, what with the treatment he received from so many voters in 2008. But, we sure could use his strong voice and steady hand in the cabinet of who will be the replacement for Obama in 2012 as Secretary of Defense.

For one, I would like to hear him speaking out like Sarah Palin did in Hong Kong, shooting straight from her hip and speaking of real hope, not fabricated socialism masked as hope.

To this end, some of us Hunter supporters have proposed setting up occasional tele-conferences with him to “pick his brain on the hot topics of the day.”

Bloggers taking part in the calls could then spread out the message of hope in America and give conservatives strong ideas and let them know all is not lost.

Positive comments to show Duncan would be beneficial to let him know there are still strong Americans who stand for freedom and liberty and traditional American values of working hard to succeed instead of waiting on a government handout.

We hope to begin these calls within a couple weeks and blogging on them.

Many who wouldn’t support Hunter said he had strong conservative values and even went so far as to say his ideas for America were the best. Now is the time to show everyone that we do appreciate Hunter’s Patriotism and even though not in the White House, his is a strong voice America needs to hear.

To Duncan, should you read this, Welcome Home, Brother.

Obama: ACORN Not A Major National Issue

Barack Obama, himself a former ACORN operative, told ABC's 'This Week' that while the video's taken and shown by James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles "was certainly inappropriate and deserves to be investigated," it is not a major national issue he pays much attention to.

Obama said, "Frankly, it's not really something I've followed closely. I didn't even know that ACORN was getting a whole lot of federal money."

SOURCE

Yet, he follows state elections close enough to ask a sitting Black governor to step-aside in favor of a white candidate?

Obama Throws Black Governor Under The Bus

Gov. David Paterson of New York, legally blind and one of only 2 Black governors in the nation, has received a "request" from Barack Obama to "step-aside" in the 2010 election, clearing the way for most likely to run Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo, a white Democrat.

Since Paterson assumed office, "his popularity has plummeted, and the state's economic situation deteriorated, with job losses mounting and the unemployment rate rising to the highest in 26 years."

Perhaps Obama could also request the Democratic governors of Oregon and Washington to "step aside" too.

Read more here and here

Paterson has suggested that criticism against him was racially motivated. I imagine he never suspected it would come at him from the White House.

Pelosi Chokes Up, But Misses The Real Violence Threat

Nancy out does herself with this little tear studded stunt, warning that conservative protestors and others who oppose their socialist agenda with the TEA parties and marches on Washington D.C. may be inciting violence.

If you have seen or heard her blubbering yet, it is up at Real Clear Politics, Pelosi Chokes Up Warning Against Political "Violence"

What she is invoking is the 1978 murders of San Francisco city supervisor Harvey Milk and Mayor George Moscone by another city supervisor, Dan White.

The murder had nothing to do with conservative or liberal politics, but over White wanting to regain the supervisor job he had earlier resigned. White turned himself in, faced trial pleading diminished capacity and was convicted, receiving a short sentence.

The fact of Harvey Milk being the first openly Gay elected official is what propelled the murder into national headlines.

And somehow, this murder makes Pelosi think, or at least claim, we conservatives are ready for a physical uprising? I’ve heard no call for arming ourselves or shooting liberal politicians from any radio host and wouldn’t listen if one did.

I haven’t heard any such call from speakers at TEA parties either and again, would leave if I did.

What I do hear is a call to revolt, to take our country back and to remove incumbent politicians, but at the ballot box, not physically.

Then again, perhaps it escaped the Speakerette that the march in D.C. September 12 by conservatives and others opposed to the Obama agenda had no arrests or disturbances, unlike left-winged protests and marches against Republican officials in the past.

But, Pelosi seems to think violence is a possible outcome. Maybe she feels that way thinking of events in her state and elsewhere prior to the Harvey Milk murder.

After all, Obama has a long standing relationship with former domestic terrorist, turned college professor, Bill Ayers and his wife, Bernadine Dohrn, both members of the notorious Weather Ground that was active in bombings, robberies and murder of a Police Officer in the 1970’s.

There is also the association of the group with the Black Liberation Army, who also engaged in domestic terrorism at the time, including murder of Police Officers. In 1972 alone, the FBI says 1,500 bombings happened within the United States due to “civil unrest” from domestic terrorist groups.

There also was the Symbionese Liberation Army, and today we still have violent acts coming from left-winged animal rights group and even rabid environmentalists.

Pelosi sees no problem with them, though.

The violent uprisings of the 1970’s failed though and those who weren’t killed, still in prison or disillusioned with groups, changed their tactics of revolution, opting to infiltrate and takeover the Democrat Party, gain teaching jobs in schools and political office.

The goal of taking over America to instill their vision of socialism didn’t change, just their method of achieving that goal.

Community agitation became their tactic as did indoctrination of children into left-winged thinking, being taught guilt for being born white or that their country was bad, not a beacon of hope.

Straight out of the book by Saul Alinsky, “Rules For Radicals,” we saw the demonization of traditional America and those who love it. We saw heavy demonization of conservative officials and candidates and ridiculing of those who wish to keep their hard earned paychecks to raise their families.

No, Pelosi isn’t worried about violence from us, she sees their socialist dream slipping away as more and more Americans wake up to what is happening to our freedom and liberties.

But, in their tired old tactic, she warns of violence from us, knowing full well it has been left-winged groups more responsible for violence.

What is her goal with this crying?

I don’t know. Perhaps a lead in to stifle free speech in questioning the Democrats and impose the ‘fairness doctrine?’ Martial Law? Incite left-winged violence to counter us and then blame us?

Whatever it is just remember, she turns a blind eye to the violence perpetrated by her side during the period she wants you to think an openly Gay man was murdered over conservative politics.

She is desperate and playing every card she can.

Don’t fall for it.

It Isn’t Health Care That Needs Reformed

Obama is dead wrong that the high cost of Health Care is what is causing our deficit to rise and bankrupting people. Reforming health care in America won’t really help many people at all.

Never mind the false horror stories he is telling us, he gets most all of them wrong any way.

What bankrupts America is really younger people being strapped in debt when they are struggling to raise families, build homes, have what their neighbors have and bypass their parents in material gain.

Most of these younger people are healthy, live healthy lifestyles today and have no need for expensive health insurance, except maybe when they are carrying and birthing babies. Usually, that is an expense most of them can handle, what with their higher paying college educated jobs they hold.

These kids begin their child rearing lives deep in debt and that debt they struggle to repay is what is really hurting the American economy, not health care costs. They aren’t in debt to hospitals, but to college’s. College’s they attended to earn their degrees so they could hold a high paying job while raising their families.

If they aren’t paying off that debt to a school, a loan company or some other group, they owe it to government student loans.

Gone are the days they could just walk away from those student loans, the government years ago calling them in and demanding they begin being repaid.

If you remember, during the 2008 campaign, it was Michelle Obama who came out and said her and Barack had just finished paying their student loans from 20 odd years earlier. Surely she wouldn’t lie about that, would she?

Average college tuition today is $35,000 a year and I can assure you that is not for such distinguished institutions such as Yale, Stanford, Harvard and other notable universities.

Many of us older folks don’t even earn that in a year, so we cannot afford to pay our children’s way into college for 4 or more years.

So, where is the cry for placing caps on what college’s charge? Where is the cry that professors earn too much money?

Many full professors earn over $100,000 a year and they do not have to carry malpractice insurance. They don’t get sued if they screw up and educate someone improperly; they just shrug their shoulders and move on to the next unwary class.

And look at these colleges. Do they really need such splendor and surroundings, marble statues; ivy covered walls and pinnacled buildings spread out over an area the size of a city?

And, how many of our tax dollars go to them for research grants? With the amount of money they make, why don’t they pay for it them selves? Why rely on taxpayers for pay for studies that have already reached a conclusion?

Why condemn doctors and hospitals for being profitable, when they turn their profits into better facilities and equipment to help the older folks who need care, but say nothing about colleges and prima donna professors who may earn as much as doctors, be more conceited than doctors and mold our children into adults with values we disagree with?

And for this, our kids may be stuck with $100,000 debt or more for student loans?

Let’s leave our doctors alone and let the hospitals rake in profits.

We need to go after liberal colleges and left-winged professors, the real culprits.

Younger people have a right to a college education, don’t they? They’re entitled to receive the best education without going bankrupt, right?

If medical care is a right, why isn’t a college education? It’s the education that will propel society, not health care. The education is what is used to produce wealth to be redistributed, not health care.

It’s time to refocus this debate, America. Rise up and let’s protest what is really hurting us all, high cost education.

We have a right!

Don't we?

TOO GREAT A BURDEN

David Castillo, candidate for Washington State 3rd Congressional District, illustrates the massive load we are seeing placed on our future, especially our children and grandchildren, with the level of spending we are seeing in Washington D.C. today.

Brian Baird, our current elected representative, helped place this load on the future by voting for these massive borrow and spend bills. We cannot saddle our children with such debt and ruin their future.

Each generation has always tried to pass on a better country than they inherited. We can do no less and if we pass this one, there will be no future for America or our children.

Brian Baird has shown us he is out of touch with our values and lives. He is poised to vote for a massive takeover of our healthcare system, placing it in the very hands of those who are responsible for our rapid increase in deficit spending, more than in the entire history of our country.

Visit David Castillo's web site and see whether or not you agree he is the candidate best suited to replace Brian Baird.

Who Is The Racist, Jimmy?

Former President Jimmy Carter came out of hiding this week to charge those who oppose Obama with "racism." Said the peanut farmer who made good,

"I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he's African American. I live in the South, and I've seen the South come a long way, and I've seen the rest of the country that shared the South's attitude toward minority groups at that time, particularly African Americans"

"And that racism inclination still exists. And I think it's bubbled up to the surface because of the belief among many white people, not just in the South but around the country, that African-Americans are not qualified to lead this great country. It's an abominable circumstance, and it grieves me and concerns me very deeply."

So, how did our newly anointed scholar on who is and isn't racist refer to Barack Obama last August?

"This Black Boy," Jimmy?

Well, he is from Georgia.

Mary Travers of Peter Paul & Mary Dies

She was 72 years old and died today after battling Leukemia for many years.

Peter Paul and Mary were known for several catchy tunes from the 1960's that many younger people still enjoy today. "Lemon Tree," "Puff (The Magic Dragon)," "If I Had a Hammer," and my favorite, "Leavin' On A Jet Plane."

They were also known for their liberal politics and opposition to the Viet Nam War.

I disagreed with the groups politics, but sure enjoyed their music, especially when in Viet Nam.

I recall in Cam Rahn Bay, walking out to the freedom bird for my final trip home after my last tour, someone turned on AFVN radio and what should I hear playing but “Leavin’ On A Jet Plane.”

The song never meant as much to me as it did at that moment.

May she rest in peace and finally lose the bitterness she felt in life.

What A Tangled Web Moveon.org Weaves, When They Practice To Deceive

Some time ago, and I still don’t know how, I ended up on Moveon.org’s mailing list. Imagine, as far right-winged radical that many consider me, I receive Moveon.org’s deceitful emails on nearly a daily basis.

Long ago I decided not to remove my name from their list just so I could keep an eye on how easily the left deceives themselves and each other. The email I received today, September 15, 2009 came as no surprise then as I opened it and read the following,

“Dear MoveOn member,

Did you know that some insurance companies actually consider domestic violence a “pre-existing condition”? That is, women whose boyfriends or husbands have beaten them could actually be denied coverage for that reason. (1)

It's sickening. And it's just one more reason we need a public health insurance option-a health care plan that won't put profits before basic human decency.

It's not enough to pass new regulations. Like credit card companies and big banks, health insurance companies will always be looking to find a new loophole.

And while insurance companies rack up profits by denying coverage, their conservative friends in Congress are busy defending them from the competition they'd face from a public plan-and arguing we should give them another chance to clean up their act.”

While regular followers of Moveon.org just accept those claims as truth, never questioning a fellow liberal, I decided to look deeper since Moveon.org supplied links to just who supposedly made these ludicrous claims.

Note ‘1’ is to “Domestic violence is a ‘pre-existing condition’?,” SEIU Blog, September 11, 2009 http://www.moveon.org/r?r=84439&id=17236-9296068-WXTENyx&t=5

Being the good little radical right-winged “ginned-up” brown-shirted mobster I have been often referred to, I got myself all “wee wee’d” up and clicked the link, which took me to the SEIU blogsite and a post supplied by a Maria Tchijov, where I discovered,
“Insurance companies have used the excuse of “pre-existing conditions” to deny coverage to countless Americans. From cancer patients to the elderly suffering from arthritis, these organizations have padded their profit margins by limiting coverage to patients deemed “high risk” because of their medical condition.

But, in DC and eight other states, including Idaho, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Wyoming, insurance companies have gone too far, claiming that “domestic violence victim” is also a pre-existing condition.

The link supplied in the second paragraph of Maria Tchijov’s post leads to Healthreform.gov site and to the post “Coverage Denied: How the Current Health Insurance System Leaves Millions Behind.”

At the base of the page I read,
“This is an official U.S. Government Web site managed by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services.”

Obama, any one?

Okay, still interested in the claim made by Moveon.org, I scrolled down and found the sentence,
“It is still legal in nine states for insurers to reject applicants who are survivors of domestic violence, citing the history of domestic violence as a pre-existing condition. (8)”

Clicking on (8), I was taken to the footnote, “8 National Women’s Law Center. Nowhere to Turn: How the Individual Health Insurance Market Fails Women, 2008.

Fair enough, they quote a magazine article from 2008. I did a web search through Google and found a pdf copy of the article.

On page 10 of the article, I read,
Rejection: Insurers Refusing to Sell Women Coverage
In most states, insurers are free to reject individuals applying for coverage in the individual market. Many women face such rejection at this underwriting stage of purchasing insurance for a wide range of reasons. For example, women have greater health needs than men and are more likely than men to suffer from a chronic condition requiring ongoing treatment, like asthma or arthritis.19 These conditions can lead to rejection of coverage. In addition, if during the medical underwriting process the insurer discovers that an applicant underwent a past C-section, the company may charge her a higher premium, impose an exclusionary period during which it refuses to cover another C-section or pregnancy, or even reject her for coverage altogether unless she has been sterilized or is no longer of childbearing age. 20 Insurers in D.C. and the following nine states are allowed to deny coverage to domestic violence survivors: Arkansas, Idaho, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Wyoming. 21” (Emphasis added)

Okay, there is the claim again with footnote ’21” which leads to,
“Women’s Law Project & Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence, FYI: Insurance Discrimination Against Victims of Domestic Violence, 2002 Supplement 2 (2002), http://www.womenslawproject.org/brochures/InsuranceSup_DV2002.pdf. In the early 1990s, advocates discovered that insurers had denied applications for coverage submitted by women who had experienced domestic violence. See, e.g., 142 Cong. Rec. E1013-03, at E1013-14 (June 5, 1996) (statement of Rep. Pomeroy) (“the Pennsylvania State Insurance Commissioner surveyed company practices in Pennsylvania and found that 26% of the respondents acknowledged that they considered domestic violence a factor in issuing health, life and accident insurance”). Since 1994, the majority of states have adopted legislation prohibiting health insurers from denying coverage based on domestic violence, but nine states and D.C. offer no such protection to survivors of domestic violence. Even though Vermont lacks legislation specifically prohibiting discrimination against domestic violence survivors, the state requires guaranteed issue of all individual insurance plans.”

Clicking the link supplied in the footnote took me to a brochure published in 2002, “FYI: Insurance Discrimination Against Victims of Domestic Violence,” which supplied the experience of 3 battered women escaping their batterers and listing one who had trouble obtaining car insurance due to her having legally changed her Social Security Number and not wanting to supply it to the insurance company who would then check her driving record, as everybody has to do to obtain car insurance.

Another who had problems obtaining a property damage settlement over her abusive husband setting their house on fire and another who also had trouble obtaining a settlement over her house being burned down by an abusive male.

In both of the latter cases, after negative publicity in newspapers, both were paid the claims.

Further into the brochure I found information listing Federal Legislative Activity designed to end any discrimination on insurance coverage against battered women. Listed there is the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, also known as the “Financial Services Modernization Act of 1999.”

The act was introduced in the U.S. Senate by Phil Gramm (Republican of Texas) and in the U.S. House of Representatives by Jim Leach (R-Iowa). The third lawmaker associated with the bill was Rep. Thomas J. Bliley, Jr. (R-Virginia).

While the Women’s Law Project brochure claims,
“This act applies to the financial services industry and permits banks to sell insurance subject to state regulation. It also includes a prohibition against domestic violence discrimination among its consumer protections. Based upon insurer treatment of domestic violence victims, this law prohibits banks from considering status as a victim of domestic violence or as a provider of services to victims of domestic violence as a criterion in insurance underwriting, pricing, renewal, scope of coverage or payment of claims. It applies to health and life insurance only,”
Barack Obama today believes that the Act directly helped cause the 2007 subprime mortgage financial crisis. But that is another subject unrelated to Moveon.org’s claim of “some insurance companies actually consider domestic violence a ‘pre-existing condition’.”

What I do see is a very intricate web of deceit through several different websites arriving back at examples of car insurance and property claims being denied.

Even though the states listed may, and I emphasis may, have not have passed a state law directly prohibiting insurance companies from denying health insurance to victims of domestic violence, does not the provision written into the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act by the three Republicans that submitted it preclude them from actually denying health insurance?

Also in Moveon.org’s email I read,
“We’ve all heard the tragic stories about how health insurance companies use the ‘pre-existing conditions’ rule to deny coverage to people suffering from chronic disease.

But extending it to domestic violence victims is simply beyond the pale-and it’s perfectly legal in eight states and the District of Columbia. In fact, one survey found that 8 of the 16 largest insurers in the country have used domestic violence as a factor in denying coverage.

These outrages won’t end until we force private insurance companies to compete with a high-quality, affordable public plan that’ll keep them honest.

Seeing how the steps have been taken to arrive at this tearful insinuation of abused women being denied any medical coverage or care, perhaps it is Moveon.org who needs to be “kept honest” or just ignored.

Obama On Kanye West

Barack Obama unofficially made a statement on Kanye West's deplorable act at the VMAs against 19 year-old Taylor Swift. It wasn't supposed to be released, being made "off the cuff."

ABC News reporter Terry Moran put it up on Twitter, but later took it down and issued an apology to the White House saying,

"In the process of reporting on remarks by President Obama that were made during a CNBC interview, ABC News employees prematurely tweeted a portion of those remarks that turned out to be from an off-the-record portion of the interview. This was done before our editorial process had been completed. That was wrong. We apologize to the White House and CNBC and are taking steps to ensure that it will not happen again."

The comment? "Pres. Obama just called Kanye West a "jackass" for his outburst at VMAs when Taylor Swift won. Now THAT'S presidential."

It's too bad it was rescinded. I think most of the country would finally agree with Obama on something.

HR 3400: That "Non-Existent" Republican Alternative

Throughout August and September, we heard Democrats crying how Republicans have no alternative to their raping of the health care system of America. In a "Fact-Check" Card issued to officials and made avaiable to followers, the claim was made, Republicans "have refused to release a plan to the public."

Introduced on July 30, 2009, prior to recess, was HR 3400 - Small Business Health Fairness Act of 2009, introduced by Representative Tom Price R-GA

Islam On Capitol Hill 2009!

While I am not one who condemns all of Islam, fully realizing it was radical Jihadists and not every day Muslims responsible for the September 11, 2001 attacks, the following website disturbs me greatly.

ISLAM ON CAPITOL HILL

2 0 0 9

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH....

The objective of this gathering is to invite the Muslim Communities and friends of Islam to express and illustrate the wonderful diversity of Islam. We intend to manifest Islam's majestic spiritual principals as revealed by Allah to our beloved prophet

Muhammad (PEACE BE UPON HIM) of Arabia. Likewise; we intend to inspire a new generation of Muslim to work for the greater good of all people. We shall serve all people, regardless of race, religion or national origin.

ON THIS DAY....

- The Athan will be chanted on Capitol Hill, echoing off of the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument and other great edifices that surround Capitol Hill
- Thousands of Muslims from all races, creeds, colors and ethnicities will gather for the sole purpose of prayer
- Bonds of friendship will be formed between those in attendance, both Muslims and Non-Muslims
- Muslim youth will experience tours of the Library of Congress and the Supreme Court.
- The peace, beauty and solidarity of Islam will shine through America's capitol.

A DAY OF ISLAMIC UNITY...

Would this announcement slip silently by if Christians descended upon Capitol Hill "for the sole purpose of prayer?"

Would we not hear cries of "Separation of Church and State" from all corners?

The bottom of the page says "OUR TIME HAS COME."

Islam On Capitol Hill 2009

Maybe it is time we began hearing more cries of "Separation of Mosque and State."

I see no reason Islam should not be held to the same standard as is Christianity in America.

Where is the ACLU now?

Ignorance Is No Excuse

From Wall Street Journal online:

White House officials on Friday professed to know nothing of the planned demonstrations. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs queried reporters about the planners and their issues. "I don't know who the group is," he said with a shrug.
The Obama administration has opted in the past to cite ignorance about the conservative movement building in this nation and the premises propelling it forward, claiming he was "unaware" of the TEA party protests taking place across the country on April 15, 2009. Yet 5 months later, he has still not taken the time to become educated on those issues, even when the protest has moved just outside his door. So much for that election night promise to the 48% of the population that did not vote for him, "I hear your voices, I need your help, and I will be your President too."

In all the blazing ignorance of the current occupant of the White House and his staff and that demonstrated by both chambers of Congress as well as the judiciary, perhaps it is long past time to mandate each and every one of them sit in on a formal reading of the Declaration of Independence, the Federalist Papers, and particularly the Constitution of the United States - the basis of all law in this nation and the explicit delineation of powers actually granted to them (as opposed to those systematically usurped from The People over the past century) - until they understand the meaning of what the Founding Fathers set forth in these documents.

THEN maybe they will understand the issues, and half the population of this nation will not be dismissed "with a shrug."

What is great about America?

As we commemorate and recall the horrific attacks we saw on September 11, 2001, we see our country deeply divided, many of our own citizens seemingly feeling we are a terrible nation, some saying we actually deserved what happened to us that day.

I disagree and have made my own short list of why I feel our country is great, not greater than, but great nonetheless.

My list isn't intended to slight or minimize any from other countries, several of you are great in my book too. This is but my own feelings on why I love and appreciate my own country.

Feel free to list your own reasons as you see fit.

What is great about America?

America is the grandest experiment in freedom man has ever seen.

We have fought for freedom and liberties only dreamed of before us.

We correct mistakes that deny those liberties and freedoms to others.

We don’t hide our problems, we wash them in public.

We don’t shirk from helping out others, we are often the first to offer a helping hand, even to enemies.

America gave its citizens and others outside our country unprecedented access to gains in medicine, wealth building and technology.

People don’t risk their lives escaping America to seek a life elsewhere, they risk their lives to come here.

We don’t claim perfection or a long distinguished history, we strive for betterment of all freedom seekers as more of our people shed their blood and sacrifice their lives for others than nations who our ancestors came from.

We don’t punish those who speak against us within our own country, but allow them the freedom to speak their mind.

We are labeled arrogant, but we do not seek expansion of our territory and do not seize other countries we defeat. We return them to their citizens to set up their own peaceful governments.

It is truly a privilege to have been born in this great country and to have had the chance to defend her.

September 11, 2001 Remembered: Eight Years On

It has been 8 years since I woke to news of the most horrific attack out nation has ever faced. Being on the west coast, events were already under way and unfolding that fateful morning as my radio went off to wake me up for work.

Hearing news of the attack instead of the usual music I turned on the TV to CNN, the channel I considered trustworthy at the time.

Initially considered an accident, when the second plane hit the second tower, I instinctively knew that we had just witnessed the beginning of war. War against the American people and western civilization.

There was little doubt that it was radical Jihadists behind the attack and in the early confusion that follows any such sneak attack, many were considered as possibly the perpetrators, Osama bin Laden, Saddam Hussein and any myriad of other known terrorist leaders.

This wasn’t the first attack against our culture or within our nation by these radicals, but it was the most successful for the terrorists as news of another airplane hitting the Pentagon broke and news filtered out of another highjacked plane crashing in Pennsylvania.

Our nation had been under attack for three decades when this attack hit and I witnessed something I hadn’t seen since a young boy, long before my enlisting in the U.S. Army and deploying to Viet Nam in 1969, Americans coming together expressing outrage and demanding accountability for the attacks.

Democrat, Republican and Independents all rallied behind President George W. Bush demanding a counter-attack, but against whom? Such demands lead to the infamous statement from Bush,

When I take action, I’m not gonna fire a $2 million missile at a $10 empty tent and hit a camel in the butt. It’s going to be decisive.”

Nearly a month later, October 7, 2001, President Bush launched the attack in Afghanistan to seek Osama bin Laden, whose terrorist group Al Qaeda was determined to be responsible for the attacks and to unseat the Taliban who were protecting bin Laden and refusing to turn him over.

Within a couple weeks, the anti-war contingent in America who opposed fighting back, began their very public demonization of Bush and the effort to prevent any more such attacks as the New York Times ran the article A Military Quagmire Remembered: Afghanistan as Vietnam.

By March of 2003, with the Taliban routed and bin Laden running and hiding out and after months of futile efforts by President Bush, a new theater in combating terror was opened as Iraq was invaded to unseat Saddam Hussein, who several intelligence agencies had determined posed a potential threat should he link up to Al Qaeda and share technology or WMD’s believed to still exist in his regime.

The anti-war cretins found an old familiar voice as the Democrat Party nominated an aging protester left over from the Viet Nam era, John ‘F’in Kerry to run for president.

Kerry, with no regard for anything except personal power, set about repeating his treasonous activities of 1971 as he labeled President Bush a liar, deserter and a coward, with the willing help of a complicit media, undermining the efforts to combat terror and demoralizing our Troops in harm’s way.

Forgotten, or ignored by Kerry and that irresponsible media, as they repeated his chant of “Wrong War, Wrong Place, Wrong Time” is that is was none other than Kerry who, in a 1997 Senate Floor Speech, was calling for an attack on Saddam Hussein’s Iraq to depose him.

If not for the efforts of a small group of brave and courageous Combat tested and Decorated Veterans, Swift Vets and POWs for Truth, Kerry might have seized the presidency as he and the Democrat Party whipped the country into an anti-Bush, anti-war fervor like we have never seen before with their lies, innuendos, fabrications and yes, undermining the efforts to combat terrorists, all for cheap political gain.

Their efforts re-divided the country worse than it has ever been as they seized first control of both house of congress in the 2006 elections and the presidency in 2008, demonizing President Bush and Republicans every step of the way, presenting us with the least experienced and least qualified president we have ever had in our entire history.

It was with great disbelief that I listened this morning to Barack Obama as he quoted President George W. Bush’s often stated words, words they have demonized and scoffed at in the years since that fateful September morning 8 years ago,
Let us renew our resolve against those who perpetrated this barbaric act and who plot against us still. In defense of our nation we will never waver; in pursuit of al Qaeda and its extremist allies, we will never falter.”

It was with even more disbelief that I listened as he followed that with,
Most of all, on a day when others sought to sap our confidence, let us renew our common purpose. Let us remember how we came together as one nation, as one people, as Americans, united not only in our grief, but in our resolve to stand with one another, to stand up for the country we all love,” after the years of efforts he and his party spent dividing the country as never before.

Where was that never faltering spirit in the past few years? Where was the call for unity when the country and our Troops needed it most?

As politicians use this fateful day as a backdrop for their political posturing and grandiose speeches, there seems to be much truth in a new phrase, 9/11: Elephants Remember, Jackasses Forget.

Have You Forgotten?

What's So Bad About "You Lie?"

As Democrats pull their usual shenanigans today over SC Republicans outburst last evening, it is almost comical how soon they forget their own disrespect in 2005 & 2009.

One man bursting out with "You Lie," and apologizing is somehow so much worse than nearly the entire Democrat Party booing the President and have yet to apologize.

Wilson shouldn't have apologized.

Democrats should be held to the same standards they dish out.

After all, Republicans have free speech also.

Don't forget, Democrats. You set the tone.

Rep. Baird, The ‘Silent Middle’ Is Speaking Out, You’re Not Listening

Now that the August recess is over and our congrescritters have returned to their ‘Ivory Halls’ in Washington D.C., Barack Obama went before the nation last evening with his pitch to salvage his heavily flawed takeover of our Health Care System.

Reactions are predictable, Democrats praising any word that comes out of the false messiah’s mouth and Republicans continuing to point out the lies and other fallacies in this ‘pie in the sky’ campaign speech.

In that regard, Washington States 3rd Congressional District Representative Brian Baird is quoted in day after article appearing in the Columbian newspaper, August 10, 2009 saying, “It’s time for the ‘silent middle’ to be heard.”

He also says, “The silent middle is going to have to speak up — the silent middle who have listened and taken the time to understand this.”

Congressman Baird, with all due respect, are you a simpleton?

Who do you think it has been confronting you at town halls? Who do you think it is that has flocked to town halls to express their displeasure with this proposed takeover of our Health Care System?

David Hedrick is the “silent middle.” Nansen Malin is the “silent middle.” I am the “silent middle.” Every single person that braved organized union thugs to speak out against this pig in a poke proposal is the “silent middle.”

Nansen Malin is the “silent middle” when she invited you to her home.

Ryan Hart, Clark County GOP Chair is also part of the “silent middle” who is speaking out when he called this ‘pie in the sky’ plan “too expensive for the nation to afford as it struggles to emerge from the deepest economic downturn since the Great Depression.”

We, the “silent middle” are no longer silent. We are sick and tired of being ignored by elected officials such as you, Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, Harry Reid and so many of the rest who we send to Washington D.C.

We are the ones who have chosen to blog about matters long ignored by the media, who are little more than propaganda mouthpieces for the Democrat Party.

We are the ones who have tired of being spoon fed talking points in this biased media outlets who only speak in glowing terms of Democrats and demonize our long held values and beliefs.

It is we who take to time to read bills that you and your cabal in D.C. vote into law without reading it yourself and we send you emails, letters and call your offices to express our displeasure, usually only receiving form letters in response, but always ignored.

You unknowingly supplied me that proof when you switched your position on the Iraq Theater of the War on Terror. After meeting you at the Vancouver Barracks on Memorial Day and expressing my support to you, I received and email answer to an earlier an email I sent you days earlier expressing my thanks.

You did not thank me for that expression of support, but sent me an explanation of and justification of your changing your stance. In simple terms, you did not even read my email.

When you were embarrassed by David Hedrick at the August 18 town hall in Clark County, you didn’t just move on, but took another opportunity to ‘knock him down’ with a cheap shot.

You did not return to your district to listen, but to preach.

You lied when you said you hadn’t made up your mind on how to vote. You did not listen to any opposing comments from the “silent middle” that are no longer silent. You defended and justified every portion that concerns us.

Congressman Baird, the “silent middle” as you call us is no longer silent. We are waking up and we are angry, angry at being ignored by you and the rest back in D.C. We are speaking out and demanding you listen.

We have legitimate concerns and we want answers.

We have grown tired of being treated like children who must be taught potty training by government.

We are frustrated at being taken advantage of by government and having our paychecks tapped more and more for government programs, those who still have jobs that is.

You ask for the “silent middle” to speak out.

We did, all during the month of August.

You blocked your ears and didn’t listen.

This “silent middle” you ignored intends to speak out again in November 2010.

David Hedrick ‘Sets The Record Straight’ On Brian Baird

By now nearly every American knows or has heard of the name, David W. Hedrick, the Marine Veteran who confronted Washington States 3rd District Congressman, Brian Baird at our August 18 townhall in Clark County.

The right has embraced his confrontation as representative of our anger and frustration as government moves us further and further away from our constitution.

The left, choosing to ignore the foundations of our country, sees him as a threat and representative of hate and to some, bigotry. They have lashed out at him and those of us who support his “rant,” as our local paper, the Columbian so eloquently put it.

As fate would have it, or maybe a set-up by the Baird camp, David received a second chance to confront the congressman, as I noted in my earlier post, Congressman Brian Baird Cheap Shots U.S. Marine At Town Hall.

It was my pleasant surprise to see that David Hedrick stopped by and left the following comment on my other blog, Clark County Conservative, ‘setting the record straight.’ A comment that I feel deserves to be a post of its own.

There has been some comment about my reaction to Brian Baird’s response to my 10th amendment challenge. Please allow me to set the record straight.

The rules of the event were clear. Audience members who were selected to speak had three minutes to make a statement and/or ask a question. Then Brian Baird had three minutes to respond.

Brian Baird knows that creating a government health care entitlement program has nothing to do with the regulation of commerce between states. If it does, the power of the Federal Government is limitless because it could apply to anything and everything. If this is the case, why did our founders bother writing the rest of the Constitution? The fact is, liberal extremists have been abusing this clause for many years and taking advantage of the apathy of voters and a complicit judiciary. What’s next? Will Brian Baird claim that the second amendment gives us all the right to free ice cream on Thursdays? This would be just as absurd. What’s more, he knows it, but is hoping the average American voter doesn’t.

And yes, he did anticipate my question. In fact, at the beginning of the event, seeing me in the audience Baird pointed to me, made a comment to the moderator and handed him a folded piece of paper. When my number was called and I got up, the moderator said something to Baird and handed him back the piece of paper. This was an obvious signal.

I was also being closely watched by the police at the event. I thought this was strange at the time, but did not find out until last night why. I was notified by a police officer (that I have never met) that local law enforcement had been given my picture and told to keep an eye out for me at the Centralia event. One would assume that Olympia was no different and this explains all of the eyes on me. I am working on getting proof of this out to the media without bringing scrutiny upon the law enforcement officer who did the right thing by notifying me of this.

Since when does a Veteran and American citizen speaking his mind to his elected representative warrant special police scrutiny?

As for my reaction to what Baird said; I didn't intend to show how much I wanted to grab that mike and expose his deception. In a debate, Baird would not get the protections built into the format he designed. Unfortunately, this was not a debate.

Our freedoms guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution will survive the night.

As for this event, the fix was in.

Thank you all for your support and lewwaters for this write-up.

David William Hedrick
Davidwhedrick.com

There’s not much I can add to that other than to thank David for taking his stand. I do know that he has received some pretty hateful comments and calls from the left and I’m sure threats as well.

Can you imagine the uproar if we conservatives called Democrat commenters in support of this massive healthcare takeover and threatened them or had the scrutinized by police at townhalls?

David says, “Our freedoms guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution will survive the night.” He is right, but only if you take a stand and vote out those who have become comfortable in ‘ruling’ us instead of ‘representing’ us.

David has followed in the finest example set in 2004 by the Swift Boat Veterans and POWs for Truth, who exposed the Democrats presidential candidate, John ‘F’in Kerry for his treasonous activities during Viet Nam. He stood up.

The question now is, will you?

Congressman Brian Baird Cheap Shots U.S. Marine At Town Hall

David Hedrick, the U.S. Marine Veteran who made news by confronting Washington State Democratic Representative Brian Baird at an August 18, 2009 Town hall in Vancouver, was fortunate enough to receive a second chance to address our congressman for the 3rd district.

At a town hall event held in Olympia, Washington, Monday evening August 31, Hedrick again confronted the congressman and unfortunately, didn’t do as well this time. From the video below, it would almost appear that Baird was anticipating his question.

As you can see, Hedrick, knowing the congressman carries a small copy of the constitution around in his pocket, asks Baird to read the 10th Amendment from our constitution out loud, which reads, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.”

You can obtain a pocket constitution of your own at Heritage.org

After it was read, Baird, who had already gotten Hedrick to agree that he felt Medicare was also unconstitutional, went on to state that many scholars and others had also read the amendment and was of the opinion it was constitutional for government to give health care. He ended by telling Hedrick “you are not the only one entitled to interpret the constitution.”

Basically, he had Hedrick and was obviously prepared this time. Which is why I find it to be an awfully cheap and uncalled for shot for the congressman to inject what he did at about the 3:23 mark, “I don’t see where in here it says we have a VA health care system.”

How tacky is that for a congressman, who never served a day in the Military, to tell a U.S. Marine Veteran, or even to hint, that the Veterans Health Care initiative is either a free entitlement or something unearned.

As a Viet Nam Veteran, hearing the congressman stoop that low is more than offensive to me.

For the record, congressman Baird, we Veterans have paid for that health care which just a short time ago, your own party was labeling as sub-standard care in the effort to blemish President Bush in any way they could. Many paid for it in blood, sweat and severed limbs.

Those of us not severely disabled due to combat wounds gained protecting your privileged butt, pay for the coverage we receive, in dollars.

While you are off “studying” coral reefs on expensive snorkeling vacation trips, on our dime, we Veterans were standing in Harm’s Way, being shot at and all too many receiving wounds. All for sub-standard pay much less than we could earn as civilians and much, much less than the $175,000 a year salary you congressmen start off at.

In fact, those of us who do face America’s enemies will never see the amount of wages you make in the beginning of your political career if we stay in the Military and retire.

And you begrudge us a health care system that we didn’t ask for, but was made available long before we were born as a way to repay a small portion of the debt we are owed for keeping America safe?

I know the fringe left thinks that system is just a freebie we receive, but it is not. Some Veterans receive substandard care, depending on location and staff. I have been fortunate, but have not had a major problem yet either.

But, to stand up and appeal to the fringe left, who applauded your answer, is beneath the dignity of a sitting United States Representative and elected by the very people you face.

Congressman Baird, you are a disgrace. You cannot wiggle your way out of this, as you did the Ryder Truck comment you made here at the Rotary Club. Kathie Durbin cannot run to the rescue and throw up her smoke screen or claim you were just describing some alleged threat you received.

No sir, you continue to sneer at and offend constituents without a care. You continue to twist words and lie to the public.

We know you have already made up your mind on supporting this massive healthcare take over. Your continual supportive comments and defense of every aspect of it betrays your lies. Your 1996 survey answer stated you supported a Universal Health Care system.

But, throwing the VA Health System in a Veterans face is over the top and offensive.

To quote the recently resigned Democratic ‘Green Czar’ Van Jones, in his earlier description of Republicans, you’re an asshole.

Breaking News, Van Jones, Obama Green Czar, Has Resigned

It was expected that he would be told to, but most thought he would last until Monday at least.

Sorry, no one got to play the race card this time.

On another note, ABC news finally noticed there was a controversy. I'm sure other mainstream media outlets will take notice too.

Source ABC News

Our thanks to Glen Beck and Fox News for exposing the avowed Communist Jones.

If the so-called mainstream media made a small effort, they might even discover much more amiss with this administration.

Oh, wait, sorry, I forgot. George W. Bush is no longer in office.

Reviewing mainstream media souces who have been ignoring the growing controversy over the past weeks, perhaps the headline should have read, Alphabet Newtorks finally wake up?

Imagine the confusion of fans of those media sources who have been kept in the dark about this growing scandal.

Imagine if it were discovered George W. Bush had selected an avowed communist and Black Bigot into his administration.

In typical liberal communist Democrat fashion, Jones blames everyone but himself and his racist remarks for his resignation.

"I am resigning my post at the Council on Environmental Quality, effective today.

On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me. They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide.

I have been inundated with calls - from across the political spectrum - urging me to "stay and fight."

But I came here to fight for others, not for myself. I cannot in good conscience ask my colleagues to expend precious time and energy defending or explaining my past. We need all hands on deck, fighting for the future.

It has been a great honor to serve my country and my President in this capacity. I thank everyone who has offered support and encouragement. I am proud to have been able to make a contribution to the clean energy future. I will continue to do so, in the months and years ahead."

How does he "serve a country" he openly has hated for many years? Oh wait, I know!

The Books Your Child Is Expected To Read By Sept. 8

As we all know, the glorious leader has scheduled a nationwide speech to small children on September 8. It is expected that they read some books on the glorious leader prior to his speech.

From the American Independent Party, here are two of those books.

And

From inside the books:

"When Barack wasn’t studying he liked to jog along the Hudson River. He couldn’t help but notice the river of hurt and hate and history that separated blacks and whites. Being both, he could not take sides. Don’t worry, said Hope. I will be your bridge. In time you will be the bridge for others."

"Here was a man who spoke of “hope” and “change,” whose strong words lifted up the downhearted people and made them believe that the world was not beyond repair."

How’s That Overseas Contingency Operation Going, Generalissimo Obama?

Since the Obama administration has taken control of the country, including the "War on Terror,” and changed the terminology to an “Overseas Contingency Operation,” it seems things have begun heating up.

While accusations continue to fly about President Bush’s mishandling and ‘bungling’ the war, violence has increased in and around Baghdad.

Many warned of such happening once withdrawal plans were announced, but fell on deaf ears it seems.

Democrats that still support fighting terror in Afghanistan seem to have a quixotic view of warfare, some calling for more American Troops sent in while others now calling for a withdrawal from there as well.

Just handing the country back over to the Taliban and giving Al Qaeda free reign once again seems to be a thought they block from their minds.

Russ Feingold (D. Wi) seems to be leading the calls now for abandoning another ally as he says,

“I think showing the people there and here that we have a sense about when it’s time to leave is going to be one of the best things we can do to succeed in Afghanistan. People in that country have to take ownership of it, everybody says that.”

Yet, in a seemingly contradictory statement in October 2008, as he was questioning sending more Troops to Afghanistan, he said,
“We must target Al Qaeda aggressively, and we cannot allow Afghanistan to be used again as a launching pad for attacks on America. It is far from clear, however, that a larger military presence there would advance these goals.”

He concluded,
“The decision to go to war in Afghanistan was the right one, but after years of misplaced priorities and muddling through, we have to do some hard thinking before asking our military to create the stability and security that are badly needed there.”

Seems that I recall nearly every Democrat complained about Afghanistan being ignored for Iraq during the Bush years and claiming that is where the real fight against terror was.

Now that they have the chance to lead the way into Afghanistan, they wish to just abandon it?

In June 2009, Gen. Stanley McChrystal shortly after taking Command issued new orders for engaging enemy forces saying,
“if there is a compound they’re taking fire from and they can remove themselves from the area safely, without any undue danger to the forces, then that’s the option they should take.”

Undoubtedly, Generalissimo Obama gave his full approval of tying the hands of our Troops in such a manner.

I recall during my time in Viet Nam, we were issued a card explaining such “rules” to us.

To me, if I’m being shot at, they can’t be too friendly.

More recently, General McChrystal has come out with,
“The situation in Afghanistan is serious, but success is achievable and demands a revised implementation strategy, commitment and resolve, and increased unity of effort.”

In a nutshell that means NATO must step up their efforts in combating terrorists, a fact acknowledged with an admission from NATO spokesman James Appathurai when he said,
“We know we will need to provide more trainers and equipment for the Afghan security forces.”

Robert Gibbs, Obama’s Propaganda Minister took advantage of the moment to once again cast blame by saying,
“This was underresourced, underfunded, undermanned and ignored for years. The president is focused on ensuring that we meet measurable benchmarks. ... It’s going to take some doing.”

The “some doing” might be in getting his own party to get behind and win, now that they have complete control.

It doesn’t help that in a July Fox News story we hear ‘Victory’ is not necessarily the goal in Afghanistan.

I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised, given the history of how Democrats have handled war since Viet Nam, when LBJ micro-managed it from the Oval Office and were given little in the news but glorifying accounts of what we faced, that now, the Generalissimo’s National Security Advisor, Gen. Jim Jones (USMC Ret.) came out saying,
“The world is coming together on this matter now that President Obama has taken the leadership on it and is approaching it in a slightly different way – actually a radically different way – to discuss things with other rulers to enhance the working relationships with law enforcement agencies – both national and international.”

He added,
“we are seeing results that indicate more captures, more deaths of radical leaders and a kind of a global coming-together by the fact that this is a threat to not only the United States but to the world at-large and the world is moving toward doing something about it.”

Oddest about that claim is that August 2009 has been the deadliest month in Afghanistan.

Perhaps it is Baghdad Bob now advising the current administration.
