Pull ‘Em Up!

For some time we have been seeing a little too much of America's youth, especially when they bend over. Where and how the fad of "saggin" got started is controversial, but let it be said to adults, you guys look stupid waddling around like ducks trying to hold up your pants.

For a couple years now a few Rap Artists have been campaigning and singing to the youth of America about this fad. Rapper Maddlines has the following video out telling our youth, "I don't want to see your tighty whities."

Rapper BigSix8 released a video in 2007 too.

Rapper Dooney Da Priest reminds young men what 'saggin' spelled backwards is in his video, Pull Your Pants Up

Pull 'em up, America.

It never made any sense to me either, Norm. But, since I am open-minded, the rule for when my daughters were dating was, "I am aware that it is considered fashionable for boys of your age to wear their trousers so loosely that they appear to be falling off their hips. Please don't take this as an insult, but you and all of your friends are complete idiots. Still, I want to be fair and open minded about this issue, so I propose this compromise: You may come to the door with your underwear showing and your pants ten sizes too big, and I will not object. However, In order to ensure that your clothes do not, in fact, come off during the course of your date with my daughter, I will take my electric nail gun and fasten your trousers securely in place to your waist."

They got the message.

I live in a small town that is almost 99% white. However I see many wannabees in those silly baggy pants. I never seen the few non-whites we have wearing them. I shake my head but I guess I am an old fuddy duddy in their droopy minds. Still, they look like idiots and it is impossible for them to run fast if they steal something.

Yeah, my father chuckled when I wore bell bottoms but I never wore the 'baggies' that came out in the 70's(and those baggies were nowhere as silly looking like the droopy pants we see now.)

And it also annoys me when they, droopy pants, wear their baseball caps half cocked. But that's just me. It's frosting on the cake of silliness. I am sure the ones who come to their senses later will be mortified when the old pictures of them are shown with the droopy pants.

No argument from me, Canuck. In my community we see all too many youths, Black, White, Hispanic, all sort, who seem to not know how to keep their pants pulled up.

Baggy pants are one thing, but having your belt below your butt cheeks is just too much.

The only advantage I can see is like you said, they can't run from Police while waddling around like a duck.

On a brighter note, I think of how, in 40 years or so, these same kids, who will be old and graying themselves by then, will see photos of themselves and wonder "what the hell was I thinking?"

And then, grandchildren will be laughing their heads off at how grandpa looked so damned dumb.
